Apparently xfactor 2010 (series) saw 15,000,000 votes cast overall (http://www.beehivecity.com/televisio...lysis11181723/).

I would imagine IAC has lower voting turnout, I would say 10,000,000 overall; with the majority backed into the final (voting numbers increasing as the show progresses).

I'd say about 10,000,000 overall, 3,000,000 in the final (possibly a bit less) is a reasonable guess.

So yes, it's a large gap in terms of actual votes placed but it is %'s that count given the number of viewers and multi-voting (1 vote is not 1 person).
Hmm, interesting. I would be more likely to vote if I thought my few votes would actually make a difference.

No wonder they had two thrones in place.

Would've loved joint winners tbh.

Id say so.

Look at how close Charlie was to actually being eliminated in votes 5 and 6.

The weeks leading up until the final Ashley 'shoulda wunnit' Roberts should have walked it.

I think that the 'Kiki effect' was instrumental, but Charlie was also probably stronger in her own right than Ashley on the day of the final.

So I'd say that Kiki helped her to the final, but on the day of the final itself Charlie probably edged it slightly over Ashley. Or the edits made it seem that way at least.

Timing was the key here.
and the timing of the Kiki story was perfect

So it must have changed to Charlies favour during the show like they said. Ashley was so close to winning. She dominated vote 8 and vote 9. What on earth happened in the final?

With a close vote like that, I reckon a surge of votes towards Charlie in just 90 seconds would have put her in the lead, eg. Kiki. I now am sure that is the reason she won. Ant and Dec said they kept swapping during the final, Ashley could have been slightly ahead until it changed in Charlie's favour after Kiki was shown.

They said the lead had changed before Kiki came on.

Can't believe how close it was in the final. Yet Ashley was leading the vote fairly comfortably for 5 nights in a row prior to the final?!

And look at her percentage when David was voted out - 40% of the 3-way vote. Not bad!

I am inclined to think the casual final/Kiki vote just swing it for Charlie, but I'm glad to see it was so ridiculously close. Ashley lost it by a hair's breadth.

Casual votes

Xfactor was on just before the final and I think it was a hangover from that

People who had read the papers and read about the whoo harr about Charlie and Kiki behind the door and then put a vote her way

I'm amazed at how close it was the whole way through. Literally anyone could have won if they had a good edit. Bit annoyed how they clearly swung it for Charlie in the final now we know Ashley topped the vote every time after Colin left. I like both, but the final highlights were definitely one-sided.

I hope Helen reads the votes and sees she topped the second vote, and knows she wasn't hated like the papers made her out to be. I felt really sorry for her on the coming out show when she read those headlines.

So that 30 seconds where Kiki came on to hug Charlie did help
There should've been an on-screen graphic throughout the series, showing us how the voting was going in real-time!

"I miss Kiki..."

CHARLIE: 40%

Footage shown of Ashley in her bikini

ASHLEY: 80%

"Mummy! I'm so proud of you!"

CHARLIE: 70%

"i want you to win so I can be a princess!"

CHARLIE: 90%

I can't remember but did it directly coincide with Charlie's recovery in the voting listed on the previous page?

Charlie Vs Rosemary was close when she was evicted.
Yes - amazing that. Charlie was within 0.5% of getting evicted instead of Rosemary. We could so easily have had a different winner - if Rosemary had maybe been a bit nicer to Hugo. That eviction vote 6 was really close between 2nd and 6th - anyone bar Ashley could have gone.

Eviction Vote 6

1 Ashley – 21.39%
2 Hugo – 16.81%
3 David – 15.97%
4 Eric – 15.67%
5 Charlie – 15.33%
6 Rosemary – 14.83%

Yes I agree that it won't just have been Kiki alone.
Many casual viewers treat these reality game show finals as event television and even get the wine and nibbles in just for the excuse of a little TV party.

They instantly recognise Charlie. All she really has to do is be a bit nice and just not be Janine.
Ashley? Who's that? Probably someone off TOWIE or some shallow model.

Good point.

There wasn't really much Ashley could have done.
If she did try anything then it would mean that just by nature of her trying she wouldn't have the same appeal. She'd instantly lose any kind of appeal to do with naturalness.

Very open contest this year. Helen must have made IAC a fortune with all of the 'trial' votes and she even topped the eviction poll at one point. I think the EastEnders factor worked for Charlie, because I don't think she did anything special on the show. 28% on vote 1 is significant. More viewers vote on the final day and the Eastenders mob would have tipped it.

Good post. Ashley was never in the bottom two, whereas Charlie was twice. Kiki was easily worth far more than 1% in the final vote.

Although, tbh, Kiki was worth more to ITV in terms of phone call revenue than worrying about fairness.

The voting percentages show that 'IT might be you...' is a load of crap...

David was 5th when they said 'it could be you' against Linda - should've been Colin.

However then Colin would've got a vote bump the day after most probably + they probably therefore wanted him to go

Can't believe how close it was - Well done to Kiki as the true Queen of the Jungle though

Rubbish! Dec and Ant had already said the voting in terms of winning had changed about thirty minutes or twenty minutes before then.So in terms of winning Charlie had already won 20 or 30 minutes before the end.Kiki's coming in 30 seconds before the result was announced had no effect as she had already won!

I really felt sorry for Helen too.I don't think she did anything to be so hated.Others have been worse in the past. However for those who are saying a good edit helped Charlie win at the end,in all fairness do you not thinking the good edits with the secret tasks helped Ashley's popularity soar too.I'm sure it did.If Charlie had been given the secret task instead of Ashley she would even have been way more popular. So really the favourite edits were not just for Charlie.
