New Carrier Update
mjdj1689
07-12-2012
I have the I phone 5 on EE 4gs network, and I have just had a notice on my screen that there is a carrier update, I have let it does this , but I cant see no difference , I thought it might have added the feature to turn 2g and 3g on or off?

Anyone else had this ? and can anyone explain what it does to the phone please ?

Thanx

Plymouth probably can't elaborate. I mean, he is bound by the Official Secrets Act after all...

Yep, it's added the settings for Visual Voicemail.

I'm on T-Mobile and just had an update to 13.2 on my iPhone 5, and it now shows Orange as T-Mobile Orange on the status bar instead of EE.

It still shows EE when connected to T-Mobile though.

Very strange.

Yeah, there was a discussion about this the other night on the Orange T-Mobile 3G share thread. I'm seeing exactly the same on my iPhone 5.

You can't look at it on your phone, you'll need to look at it on a computer.

The feature isn't active yet anyway.

I'm not a customer of either, but the settings are there in the T-Mobile AND Orange settings.

As far as just about everything is concerned, there are still separate Orange and T-Mobile networks.

If you installed the update through iTunes, it'll be in the following folder:

C:\Users\David\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Carrier Support

Obviously you'd replace "David" with your username.

If you're using Windows XP or Mac OS X it'll be in a slightly different folder

It's a .ipcc file, which is just a ZIP file, so you can rename it to whatever.zip and open it up.

I got asked for carrier settings update today, now displays 't-mobile orange' as opposed to the usual 'EE'. Bit strange

Restart your phone. Should change back to EE

Didn't work with mine. It displays 'EE' when it's on T-Mobile and 'T-Mobile Orange' when it's using Orange.

It seems like Orange customers have had SIM updates to rename both networks to EE whereas T-Mobile customers have not.

Of course my phone has had the carrier updates but the underlying network names as interpreted by the SIM have not changed. Meanwhile everyone I know on Orange (who mostly have Android phones where iPhone style carrier updates don't exist) appears to have had SIM updates to change the names.

As mentioned previously there are a few of us with this problem. It seems to be a error with the settings.
