It's the end of his week as a presenter on GMTV and I have been really impressed. Had thought it might be car crash TV but he is a natural and looks like he's been doing it for years. No histrionics and very articulate. Gold star.

Actually I was thinking the same, I don't watch Daybreak but my gf had put it on this morning.

He does seem to come across very well, much more relaxed and quick witted than poor stiff as a board Aled Jones!

But music flows through his veins so surely that's where his future lies?

Ha ha, some people and their continued application of the term, fame whore, is so overused for many and Rylan in particular. The poor man is trying to earn a living and appears to be suited to presenting. Is every fecking person who presents on television a fame whore, or, today, does it only apply to Rylan Clark?

I've heard nothing but good about his skills. I only wish someone had recorded his presenting work this week and uploaded to youtube as I'm unable to watch. Hope he's paid well and it leads to much more for him!

There is a clip on another thread. He has a good stab at presenting I must say. Infinitely better at that than singing.

I suspect if any of the contestants who had been eliminated had been offered a job presenting for a week, none of them would have turned it down.

Just because Rylan has done the presenting thing for a week, it doesn't mean he's given up with singing does it. You take whatever comes your way. He's earning money, although some folk think he should simply sign on and look for a 'proper job' LOL!

Famewhore - person who is seeking fame and will do pretty much anything to get it/keep it. It remains to be seen if Rylan will buckle down and actually persue a career in TV presenting/singing or whether he will go back to being one of Thickie Price's Klingons, continue with the cosmetic surgery proceedures, appear at the opening of every envelope and do the 'reality TV' circuit.

On another thread I haven't a clue of and so I will continue not to see him, that's a shame. I had hoped a fan might upload all of Rylan this with week's presenting onto youtube — if I could I surely would. I have to suppose in which case no one is such a big a fan of Rylan as I.

I'm proud to be Rylan's fan and thrilled he's had this presenting slot. He's doing very well for himself. I can't imagine any of the other bumped contestants being offered what he was — it was always waiting to happen as he's a natural.

He's a bright chap and I can't imagine he won't do his very best to buckle down to persue a career in TV presenting or anything credible. I believe in Rylan as he is intelligent, bless.

Go on — have a stab at describing what you feel you discerned you saw, please. Don't simply allude to him not being good at presenting.

I saw it this morning and I didn't think Rylan did anything wrong, he had a bit of banter with the 3 finalists, and had a chat but the other presenters were mainly doing the interviewing anyway. Plus there was a lag and I'm not sure how well CM, JA and JD could hear what was being said to them so I think it's unfair to judge Rylan on that, he's been fab on daybreak all week, I will miss him too Floh

Yes I'm sad that this was Rylan's last morning on Day Break. He came across so natural and at ease with himself and looks gooooddd. He's so great with the quick-thinking ad-libs as well and sounds like he likes all the so-called celebs he's promoting even though you can tell deep down it's all tongue in cheek. Can't wait for him to pop up somewhere else. Yes you can watch him on iPlayer. His slot is on at 07:50 so look at the clock on the screen to guestimate where to fast-forward to (although you do have to sit through the ads unfortunately).

I thought the whole reason he and others, go on X Factor is because (and often in their own words) "this is all I want to do". The same applies to Murs. He accepted the Xtra Factor offer because he was unconvinced his music career would continue. These presenting jobs are just a flag of convenience to continue their public profile and remain on the Z list. After all, working at Asda isn't going to get you invites to film premieres is it?

Rylan may or may not be good at TV presenting, but one gets the distinct feeling, the X Factor was just a ruse to get noticed (I know, deep shock there). Why don't they just re-name it the Fame Factor and have done with it?

Yes. It sounds odd to me. People do set out on one course in life and change course when an opportunity opens up. The singers who came second and third in the 2nd series of Pop Idol became children's TV presenters and have been doing that job for years.

X Factor and other TV reality shows are a short cut to fame without actually having achieved anything or worked for it.

"Envy" - get real. And I don't have a problem per se with taking opportunities - I am more concerned with those that offer such opportunities whether they be Daybreak producers trying to get publicity for a programme dying on it's arse or X Factor producers using the public as fall guys to make their millions.

I stand for talent, hard work and endeavour. What I loathe is fame for fame's sake.

Rylan worked hard to be noticed on X Factor and was talented enough for ITV to want him for the week's presenting slots. He used his skills to do that and be different. I believe he'll endeavour to stay around being open to offers building up into some permanence, making a base for himself on british tv.

Perhaps Rylan has a talent for TV presenting. He has done well so far in what was in effect a test run - an audition.. Time will tell.
