Galaxy Note 2 - Alternative to Kies with a Mac
I bought a Galaxy Note 2 two weeks ago and absolutely love it, it's perfect apart from one small issue I'm having. I have a Mac and Kies just doesn't seem to get a long with it at all. Connecting the phone in the first place is a nightmare, with both Kies and the phone having to be re-started a few times before they eventually recognise each other, and then when they eventually do, Kies will just freeze and close down anyway which is extremely frustrating. It's a shame as it seems like a decent programme and allows proper editing of song information and album artwork which I'm quite OCD about.
I've also tried a free trial of Wondershare MobileGo for Android, which, whilst it also seems a decent programme, has a couple issues. Whenever I sync my songs, after a little while every song I have on my phone is doubled, taking up double the memory and just being very annoying and messy. It also doesn't allow for decent song information editing which is a pain. I do like how you can add playlists from iTunes though. I don't mind maybe paying for some decent software, as long as there is a free trial available first. Any help or suggestions would be massively appreciated! |

In my experience, Kies doesn't get along with anything. Setting up wifi synching with my-Samsung!-netbook is so ridiculously complex I have given up. It can just about be persuaded to work via USB, but locks up and freezes repeatedly. It's far easier for me to use Windows Explorer and drag and drop. I assume the Mac equivalent will work just as well for you!
(I agree about the Note 2; had mine 2 weeks and just cant put it down!) |

AIR DROID
Its the best thing I have used. Download from google play and use your PC browser to access files, send texts, contacts etc etc. As for software updates. SAMMOBILE Firmware website has latest updates as well as checking your software update status in the Settings menu. KIES is crap - uninstall it and don't use it. |
