New iPhone Contract
Hi,
After an 'all you can eat' contract so either EE or 3 (not really interested in 4G yet) Who should I go with? Or should I hold fire for potential new offers (i.e less money per month!) in the new year? Thanks |

A few questions first.
Do you get signal in your area with both 3 and T-Mobile? Do you require tethering? 24 month contract? What would you be willing to pay per month max/min? |

I'd personally go with T-Mobile with unlimited data, you will get the same 3G coverage as 3 but with 2G fallback in poor 3G areas and believe me it comes in handy which is why im with EE and not 3, 3 still has a lot of places with no signal at all or poor indoor coverage, also do you get 3 signal where you live and spend most of your time?

Based on the fact you don't need tethering i agree with AJH, go with T-Mobile as they have 2G fallback where as Three do not have 2G in many areas. Not to say Three's network is bad but it's better to fallback on to 2G to make/receive a call then to have no signal at all.
Now the easiest way would be to go for the full monty plan which is £36pm + £99 upfront. It gives you an iPhone 5 but on a 24 month contract. Works out at £964 over 2 years. Unfortunately not many networks do 12/18 month contracts with unlimited data so the only other way is to spend £500 upfront for the iPhone 5, then £21pm for a sim only from T-Mo for 12 months, gives you unlimited everything. This works out at £752 for one year (£1004 after 2 years), this gives you the flexibility to sell the phone/upgrade to a 3G/4G contract 12 months from now, Looking at the history of iPhone prices in the past it's very rare for them to drop price on contract. And it's never dropped price off contract (£500). So you can wait for a price drop but i doubt you'll see one, and if you do it'll probably be a £1/£2 off per month or maybe £50 off the upfront cost. Don't forget TCB if you opt for the contract option. They're doing £80 cashback at the moment. You can get a cheaper deal by opting for 1GB of data. |

My Three phone goes onto EE when there is no 3g. While I can make/receive calls I cannot use data
If the OP had said they wanted tethering then i would have ruled out everyone except Three. Their internet service is the best and it includes tethering. |

Yeah there are hardly any areas that 3 has 2G fallback now. Based on what you have said i'd go with T-Mobile, I went with Orange instead of 3, 2G fallback is great to have also if you did want to go down the SIM Only route... The full monty SIM only is now £21 a month instead of £31 a month for a limited time so if you snapped that up you would be saving £10 every month
