Christopher Maloney who?

Louis Walsh confirmed to the Daily Mirror that he had spoken to the X Factor supremo by telephone and he had big plans for the two younger finalists.

Big mistake as it will make the fans, the anti lot and the feel sorry for Chris lot vote more to make sure Chris wins, Therefore Simon and Co will have to do something for him. after all he would have won a £1 million contract.

Chris will have a successful career even if Simon does drop him after releasing the single / album

Fear not: Christopher Maloney in set to win and he'll get the winner's promised contract come what may. He'll also be treated like most other winners by Cowell which is only to be expected. Clever Cowell letting this 'news' slip (good old Louis!) is only to generate even more phone calls to continue to fill the coffers. Cowell's a business man.

Seems silly now to vote for James and Jahmene if their future is secure. Christopher HAS to win now in order to get some kind of album.

Yup regardless of what the papers are printing if Christopher wins he will get the contract regardless. For everyone who insists on believing tabloid crap here you go

There is no point in winning the show if the boss doesn't like you.

I think they actually do want Chris to win because the other two can be signed regardless. Whether they will be a success or not is another story, but Simon can hardly sign Chris if he doesn't win. Love him or hate him, Chris will make them a few quid in the short term, and he obviously has some level of fan base to make it this far.

Chris will never be a 'relevant' artist, but there is ££££££££ to be made from churning out covers album after covers album.

Reading such statements as this, I'm seriously beginning to think that Cowell wants Maloney to win. It wouldn't surprise me as Chris's mother's day covers album would look a far, far better bet for turning a profit than the expensively produced and promoted crap the other two are likely to churn out.

If Cowell really fears a Maloney win, these press plants are surely disastrous. I'd have thought that Max Clifford would be handling Simon's press .. oh, hang on a minute...

Of course he can. He's a businessman and nobody will be watching once the show is over. Even this forum will grind to a near halt by March and we're the nearest thing the show has to fanatic observers. And yes, a Maloney album of covers would make a nice profit for Syco. It would cost buttons to produce and to market and would sell to a very reliable demographic come Mother's day. A nice earner for all concerned.

I never trust the tabloids that much in regards to how he'll market winners. Remember Joe was going to be the new Zac Efron, Disney star? That went well.

That's the point to make money on the phone in's - Simon will promote Jahmene and james anyway the only way making instant money with Chris is through the voting and this little set up will see that that.

TBH there is a market for Chris it's just not in the top 20, they could still make money from him I'm sure (I don't like him btw)

What, after paying out for promotion, songs, production? All for a possible Eoghan Quigg-type chart entry?

If Maloney wins expect a Jai McDowell album, if he's runner up - zip.

Songs, production and marketing for a Maloney covers album would cost far, far less than likewise for the others and would pitch much sooner and to a far more reliable demographic. Regardless of the result, he will get to make the album, be it with Syco or somebody else as it is easy, easy money all round with virtually none of the risk associated with launching James Arthur as the next David Bowie/ED Sheeran (sure fire fail) or Jahmene as the modern Harry Seacombe. Mary Byrne (looked like Subo, sang 50s, 60s, 70s classics, finished 5th) made at least one album.

I doubt Simon is brimming with excitement regarding Jahmene either. This just sounds like Louis spouting off as usual!

Maloney will make his money from the tour and maybe a bit of what is left from the advance. He'll not get any album royalties (which are only paid once the label turns a profit) and he'll probably miss out a bit because while he's signed from Syco he won't be able to do Butlins or any cruise ship gigs (once his album flops he'll just be forgotten about for a few months, not officially dropped, but not able to do any other work).

More fool Cowell then. I imagine these two guys would really struggle to get a record contract outside the competition.....there's no way for example that James Arthur is the new Damien Rice or Ed Sheeran.

I know. It's so utterly predictable. Better than working in a call centre I suppose.
