Belfast EE Speeds - Root Metrics app
Just been looking at the Rootmetrics app over Belfast for Data speed it shows O2, Three & Voda having ok speeds from 1.7 - 3mbps but EE is shocking at 0.7 Mbps down and 0.5 up. even Three's (normally fastest in other cities) speeds are the lower of the other lot.. what gives?
Is it really that bad there or have the tests mostly been done in crappy areas? http://i.imgur.com/WJyGp.jpg |

IMO it's down to investment and expansion in 3G networks, both capacity and footprint over the last 3 years, O2 and Vodafone have done this in Belfast the others haven't.
With orange speeds have noticably increased in last 6 months outside of the city I've noticed 3 to 5 in Antrim, ballymena and coleraine (all to the north of Belfast) so there have been some improvements, it's not new masts so I'm guessing backhaul upgrades. In Belfast city centre the data slowdown in afternoon/early evening rush is getting worse....either an increase in data usage per customer or EE have a lot of new users here and the stain is starting to show. |
