They shouldn't have to start fresh like that again though. The only reason he'll be dried-up as a character after Brendan is because they didn't give a thought or care to him this year and respect Kieron as one of the best actors and Ste as one of the best characters they have.
They could have been exploring him, truly considering him, laying groundwork for after Brendan, taken advantage of the interest there would be in him as his story ran alongside Brendan's. They've reduced and underused and failed him at every turn.

Why they don't recognize and build around characters like Ste, Jacqui, and Nancy, I'll never understand. They'll fall down on Mitzee eventually. Every SP's got other agendas like pushing silly favorites, or finding the next big thing, or the teen demo and casting hunks, great drama for their best characters suffers or has the hardest time coming about and being done well.

Of course they'd have to start afresh again. When just about every character someone is linked with leaves the show you can't not have to start afresh.

Nancy was a character who was left stranded when all her family and friends slowly but surely left the show and they took steps to change that and cemented her in one of the main families of the show. As long as she's with Darren then Nancy has a firm place.

They've introduced Maxine for Mitzeee because again she's a character that's losing links and they're taking steps to stop that.

I still wish they'd brought in Ste's real dad. Imagine how Brendan would feel with another prominant man in Ste's life

Oh I know but what if he's all charming or makes out he didn't know about Ste and Brendan's all suspicious and oddly jealous (don't get excited, Sarah )

He could have had good, established friendships this whole time though, is what I mean, Going . Other things and involvements going on so he's not destitute after Brendan.

It just further proves how little more than a plot-device he's been this whole time.

I really don't see that Ste's been more devicey than anyone else. Most characters are mainly seen in the context of their love lives, and at least Ste has been the one that his two love triangles have hinged on, and he's also had the deli plot, whether we enjoyed it or not, and his family life with Amy and the kids. They didn't ditch Amy so that Ste had one person less to interact with, and they didn't bring his kids back because they undervalue him.

I've just watched the episode where Cheryl finds out Brendan's been arrested for Rae's murder and 'creep' plays I spent most of the time saying "oh, I miss him/her" I didn't realize how many of my favourite characters have left in the past year
and Ste's hair is perfect in that episode

I think the majority of characters have little plots/friendships alongside their main ones to be honest. The big characters anyway.

Ste has his kids and Doug/business which hasn't always been linked up with Brendan, he's had Amy stuff and he's set to have Billy stuff. It's like Nancy, Darren and the baby is her main plot, she has stuff with the Osborne clan but friendship stuff with Mitzeee (which was then used alongside the Darren and baby stuff) so it's all interlinked.

I agree, mojo and Sarah. I think friendships is one area the show could improve on. They occasionally throw them together as groups but we don't see much one on one friend interaction. We need more Nancy and Mitzeee friendships.

Yeah I can see you what you mean, I don't think Brendan would like it at all. Even though he has changed to a point I stil think Brendan would be jealous of any man in Ste's life even a relative.

i think there are a few more stuffs which it would be great if they write ... Ste or Brendan Or AS STENDAN after reunion ....it does not matter...

i really wish they changed their mind at least a few more months
Cause Emmett deserves better for sure if he wants to move U.S he is right or whatever he needs....
