C&S I don't think I heard your thoughts on last night's? What did you reckon?
OK, well, mixed feelings really. It reminded me a lot of the January SU bar goodbye, when Brendan deliberately pushed him away, but with an added punch for "finality" I guess.

I felt like the scene with Ste and Brendan, there was something missing. It should have been MASSIVE. They've been apart for 18 months, and Ste has married Doug! And here he is, laying out his heart for Brendan again. It seemed like they cut some dialogue just before Ste said "Just ask me ...", and it just felt a bit sudden for me - I just wasn't quite in the moment with it maybe.

And I still think that punch was misguided. I can just about get why Brendan did it, though his whole pact with God thing stretches my credulity a bit far, but I still don't get why Ste would ever go back. At the end, I just felt really sad for Ste when he was crying with Doug and thinking he'd been really stupid again.

I'm probably trying too hard to make sense of it, but it left me feeling it was a bit of a muddle really. I'm still looking forward to seeing them in a relationship though.

I will say that Doug was a rather magnificent bitter bitch at the start. Maybe they should keep him like that. Send him down the bitter, bitchy, alcoholic route. He could swap stories with Eileen over a bottle of gin or two.

Oh so that dinner where Brendan shouts at Leah is New Years (1st E4 if there's an ep)

It is the flat!

TV Times has the shouting as Xmas Eve though which fits with DS. I think the shouting will be then and then on New Years will be Cheryl brokering peace and the outing.

Hello.

I know exactly what you mean about that scene missing something C&S, I felt exactly the same. But then they can't have two epic reunions a week apart, so I think they put in as much as they can but their leaving the real epic stuff for next week.

I mean, I'd be pretty annoyed if we got big love declarations, then a punch, so I'm glad they've left next weeks for the really big stuff which will end with a kiss and a kiss alone. And maybe a shag.

I think we read far more into these situations than most viewers do, so every now and then you just have to take the crap their dishing out with a pinch of salt and enjoy they 'drama'.

Hey Radio - yes, I'm sure you're right, they're holding back for the Big Moment. I just wanted to know what Ste would have said. Maybe one day, we'll find out.

eta: anyway, I didn't come on here to put a damper on any flailing. Gotta go again!

I do know what you mean c&s, but like Radio said, I guess they're saving all the big conversations for next week. I really loved it though.

Like GTTB says I think there must be two meals of some sorts as the truce picture is from finding out Brendan's gay rather than the shouting at Leah episode. I think...

Oh no, see, it's not good when people only rate you for bitter bitchery onscreen

I just find Doug obnoxious when he gets like that. The brows are smug, and he scrunches his face so it's kind of snouty, and he leans forward and bleats his condescension. It's so utterly unlikeable.

When they bring him back, I really hope it's away from any demanding kind of angst. It's just one more thing I hated about them laboring Ste and Stendan with him for, he pulled too much focus for coming out and with all the jealous treachery, when he's not even good enough actingwise .

I was with my friend today, she doesn't watch Hollyoaks but she was trying to wind me up so she said "I love Stug" and then started laughing at the evil face I gave her then she said "nah, I googled Stug last night but I didn't like it, it looked cringey" and I said "but you like Stendan?" and she said "well they're hotter and I think I prefer them because I'm used to them with you always going on about them"

Yes.

Imagine him as a huge lush propping up the bar. He could be our Peter Barlow.

Well our Carla Connor with the sass.

Oh I know. I really wanted to know what Ste was going to say after Brendan pushed him away. He seemed to understand that Brendan was finding this all very difficult and over whelming. I love how well he knows him.

And you haven't. You added a very valid opinion!

I'm very much looking forward to their big talk next week.

And I don't know what it says about Seamus that he's the type to be choked-up in what looks like old tweed suits. It's just not how I imagined Pa, as craggy-faced and evil-looking as Fintan is.

Oh it's lovely to come home to a post like this. I had no idea how to express my feelings on last night's episode and you've done it for me

Just to add, I found Doug's reaction really interesting. He obviously knew what had happened but instead of pushing and doing the whole "see! Look what he's like!" routine, he didn't. Unlike Noah he was just there for him, and he knows he isn't Ste's choice but he's gonna go along with it anyway. I had quite a bit of love for Doug there especially.

Tezza's twitter makes me howl

She's a fantastic bitch, and I love her opinions.

If you can't tell though, I'm bored out of my mind. I want today's E4 NOW.

That's not how I saw Dougs reaction Ayla, I think he stepped back from what he knows, i.e. that Ste loves Brendan, I think he didn't push it because he didn't want to have to acknowledge that Ste had gone to Brendan, he is still in a place of fooling himself.

It looks like it is going to take someone saying directly to him, Ste loves Brendan and Brendan loves Ste before he will start to deal with what he has known, deep down, for a long time.

I don't know what Chez says but she must be fairly brutal to break that self delusion down.

I'm not particularly blaming Doug, I would hang onto Ste like grim death but I don't think he was being there for him at all.

And also the palaver with dragging Ste and the kids to the airport before he gives his ultimatum smacks of more mind games.

Also he was a horrible bastard at the beginning.

Ste is being a git as well, he must know that if he loves Brendan that much that he can't possibly build a secure life with Doug.

What happens when a handsome cowboy with a tash and a glint in his eye wanders into their new deli?

Was it clear that Doug knew what happened though? Cos I didn't see that.

And there's no way he'd just let it be if he suspected Brendan had punched Ste in the face. He doesn't even know Brendan used to abuse Ste.

Yeah he does.

He even wrongly suggested Brendan beats up one night stands.

I'm think it's pretty safe to say that Doug knows Brendan used to hit Ste, somehow everyone does.

Both Warren and Cindy made reference to it last year and Doug talked about Brendan beating up his one night stands back in June too. Plus I think it would be something Ste would of told Doug off screen if not.

He does know about Brendan abusing Ste, he would have to be pretty daft not to know what happened yesterday as well, even Cheryl worked it out.

Ayluur.

I hate it when the fandom authority figures get upset. It feels like seeing your mum cry. *holds*

I think it means that as long as he stayed and Ste stayed that he would eventually end up getting back together with him. So he sees going away and putting distance between them as the only option.

He's never mentioned anything like that again though, Going. And it's a mystery to this day how he knew enough to come to any of those conclusions.

I think there's fanwank going on now about Doug last night, when all I saw was he was just basically clueless. There was initial concern about Ste's face, but then it was all about the argument he and Ste had had, and I'd guess he thought Ste had been crying and messed up over that.
