Recently bought a Humax Foxsat-HDR 500gb. Thought I would give a bit of a review - sofar.
Got a really good picture from it - better than Sky. Had trouble at first with getting it to record on schedule. Eventually found that this was a loose connection on the box from the dish. The picture was good but it was not picking up the start finish codes properly. So make sure you have a tight connection. Before I found the cause of the problem I sent an email Humax about this but received no reply - which is a bit worrying.
The box does work well - only problems are :-
When a series ends the program stays on top of the schedule list. It can be removed manually with no problem but I have noticed that some series I am recording in the middle of the night stop being re-scheduled. This is probably more about the codes being broadcast properly than the Humax box. Not sure.
Remote has to be pointed straight at the box - no bouncing the infra red off the walls with this box.
The music player is - to be polite - basic. There is space of about 30gb on the HD dedicated to music files. One thing might save you time - it is not in the manual - directories are limited to 1028 files. So if you have 2500 or so like me you need to put them in 3 directories - shuffle only works within each directory - so you cannot shuffle your entire collection. Don't like the word shuffle - prefer random.
If you press the GUIDE button on the remote it takes forever to bring up the program schedules. Found a quicker way - press SCHEDULE button then press red and they come up straight away.
End of complaints - pretty good box really.
Hooked it up to my router and now get BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and BoxOffice365. Seems strange that BoxOffice365 charge £4.99 - on a freesat box. No problem with these at all.
As I said good box - quite pleased.
