I think Maria will win now
I think Sugar likes her and how the rest of them especially the guys are terried of her.
She has done well last two weeks and is coming to the boil at the right time |

I said after Week 2 that if Maria wins, I'm not watching the next series and I intend to hold myself to that.

I think they have decided to just make each series as stupid and the winners as undeserving as possible so we will tune in to see how mental it all is this year. So Patrick will probably win.

Yeah, the wrong person always wins.
I have a feeling Patrick might win. He could be another Tom Pellerau, didn't do anything at all and then won in the end! Woohoo. |

Honestly, I'd rather Patrick won than Maria. Maria deserves to win more than he does, but he's so much more likeable on a personal level than her, I have to say I would smile a little inside if he defeated her... but I'd rather see Lucy, Steven or Ashleigh win.

Patrick has kind of blind-sided LS... but I bet you his business plan is as bonkers as that swimsuit kimono thing.

I don't think they're terrified of her, they've commented that they find her hard to work with. She seems to have toned her behaviour down a little, but she won't win.

She's most like Lord Sugar I suspect. She's also got a business running, and her abilities to run it have not been tested and damaged on related tasks. It depends if he wants to be a bit more hands on or not, and if he wants to reward someone with a show story. We have no idea what Lucy has on offer and Ashleighs record isn't much better than Maria's. Stephen is the dark horse - but he's done nothing to justify winning so far. If he wants a different looking winner, Lucy looks a bit like Zara, but not quite as strong. He might not want two well educated, well spoken females in a row? Ashleigh would look different , as would Stephen ....and Maria. |

i dont know if someone had a word with maria but her behaviour this week was definitely more controlled and she held herself together. I dont know where these girls get the idea that to be gobby and pushy is the way to get along with people.
ashley all the way for me - a nice sensible yorkshire lass having said that tho she's only the best of a poor bunch. |

Thing is Maria could be quite pretty, but I'm afraid she pulls so many contorted facial expressions when something displeases her that I think she'll get stuck like that.

Why would he need to be hands on? I thought it was a 25k cash prize for whatever business they want to start/extend, not working for him

I know Maria is planning on taking a year out next year before going to university (she came into my sister's marketing course to give them a talk on interview skills . . . patronising apparently
) I don't know if that's of any signifigance to the discussion here though or if she's just unsure of what she wants to do. She told them she's got some exciting offers though.

She has done well last two weeks and is coming to the boil at the right time "Coming to the boil" is an appropriate choice of words, though I would say she is virtually permanently on simmer combined with boiling over every now and then.... more now than then. |

Maria
It seems relevant to quote a previous comment that I wrote: Quote:
...also, in the same summary of the afternoon tea task, Maria is shown in the boardroom saying "Sorry, I need to calm down because... can I just breathe for a second? Because I know that I'm actually going to get VERY angry here".
I find that really worrying. Especially at her age. Quote:
I can't recall exactly what had happened at that point, but I do remember feeling at the time that Alice had just said something unfair and untrue about Maria and not being surprised Maria was angry.
Alice said that she didn't think Maria pushed the product as much as she could've. Maria retorted with "I don't think you pushed the product enough". That retort struck me as being childish (a playground "You're silly". "Well I think you're silly". "You're shouting". "No, you're shouting"). I don't know who was right but it seemed to be settled by Sugar/Nick: Sugar asked Nick's opinion, who in an oasis of calm said, to Maria, "I don't think that I was excited at your activity". |

Nick & Sugar on Maria
Nick on Maria
Nick said, to Alice, regarding the £16/£13 price for the Afternoon Tea : "From the start, you were saying too high, too high. My impression actually was Maria was very (Nick's stress) happy indeed for an even higher price". Maria replied that the other team's costs were lower so they could afford to have a lower price but Maria's team couldn't. Hmm. That falls into a classic trap - you don't calculate your cost price and then add your margin. You calculate what people will pay and ensure that your cost price is healthily underneath that. If you do the former, you run the risk that people will simply not pay. That task failed because the price was too high. Maria thought it OK to charge even more. Sugar & Maria In the same task when Alice said she was choosing Maria to bring back into the boardroom, Maria actually corrected Sugar! Maria asked Alice's justification in selecting her. Sugar interrupted "Shall we find out afterwards?" (i.e. when the 2 selected by the PM come back in). Maria replied "No because I don't think it's fair, Lord Sugar". I couldn't quite make out the 'no' perhaps due to her accent but it sounded like 'no' and that fits the "because I don't think it's fair, Lord Sugar". I personally don't think that Maria is a contender at all. And I reckon that Nick is not impressed by her. |

I don't think Maria is the likeliest winner, but I think she's now in the top half of the table, so to speak. She's shown that she can bring herself under control (compare her on this task to her behaviour on the recipe book task) and she has drive and ideas. |

I don't know if it's just the editing - it could well be - but i think Maria's attitude stinks. Yes, she's clearly determined and capable but her constant snide remarks and attacks on others irritate me. She seems to think you have to be a bitch to be successful.

I'll tell the OP for nothing that she won't win. Sralan will see through the aggressive act and get rid in the semi final or thereabouts. Look at past series of TA and TYA - the rottweiler type never do end up winning. Anyone remember the much-reviled Zoe in the first series of TYA? |

Maria was not the PM. I don't think she had any responsibility for the costs. Andrew incurred the high costs, acting pretty much on his own as he'd had little direction on that (or any) point from Alice.
I don't think Maria is the likeliest winner, but I think she's now in the top half of the table, so to speak. She's shown that she can bring herself under control (compare her on this task to her behaviour on the recipe book task) and she has drive and ideas. Maria's drive may be preferable to Patrick's ennui but I do think on the whole her ideas are usually bad!
