Sadly, I think you have touched on what is wrong with the modern music scene. Style always seems to rule over substance and for Jahmene, he sings one genre very well and others - well, credibly at best. What he doesn't do is the style, the cheeky chappy, the clubber, the camp TOWIE entertainer. In other words - he is not going to sell tabloids - or albums.

Well let's just keep our fingers crossed that he bucks the trend and brings some credibility to this sad, sorry circus,

Definitely not, we are getting tired of his sob story and his singing is unappealing.

No I cant see him being marketable tbh ..... nice genuine lad but like others have said, he doesn't do well in interviews and seems to talk in blocks `if you know what I mean` , conversation doesn't seem to flow easily with him its like he talks in fits and starts with that giggle on the end which can become quiet irritating after a while.

Jahmene will make a fantastic soul album.

I don't want him to stoop to the levels of Charts and do pop songs.

I think he could push it to RnB Tracks though.

Most definitely will be forgotten in a year at most.

Take risks, try and make a dent in the music industry - enough of this clubland tripe. Yes, I would say he's marketable.

Not as a pop singer, which is what the X-factor winner is going to be marketed as. Therefore he'd be better off not winning and signing to a label who can market him in another genre.

Jahmene may make a fantastic Gospel album...but that is not what Syco wants him to do.. It isn't the style of album that will appeal to the mass market Simon wants to make money from.. Plus he isn't very good at interviews

Neither was Michael Jackson.

I don't think he has an obvious target audience but his appeal is probably quite broad.

I would say that Jahmene is very marketable. He just needs to tone down a bit on the vocal gynastics and note bending when he is doing covers.

He doesn't look the part, he doesn't sound the part (oversinging bleugh), but with the right strategy, he can be marketed.

If all else fails, they can try this. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

Seems a nice guy but voice is nothing special and absolutely no control over his nerves in live singing , and exactly what market would he appeal to ? Is there a big enough gospel market in this country ? Frankly his old school soul performances are too dated , though not as cheesy as Chris admittedly .

There's a big enough gospel market outside of this country and who knows, he could create a market for gospel based songs. As for what market he appeals to - he's not been in the bottom two so far.

Yes, in a Westlife kind of way

Definitely not marketable today, either voice, choice of music or overall image. I also think he would be better on the US gospel circuit. There is a limit to what he will sing and can sing.

Jahmene lacks charisma, vocal control and confidence. He needs to chill out, let his hair grow a bit (that hairstyle is so severe - he looks far better in those youtube vids with his hair longer) and dress a bit more '20-something young man'. At the moment, he seems to be dressing more like a 10 year old boy at a family wedding.

I was talking about him in interviews - I remember him whispering and giggling and not much else. I'm certainly not comparing them performance wise.

His personality, like Leona Lewis, is generally very shy but that has nothing to do with his voice or his performances which are amazing.

The text in bold sums up why he's not "world class", despite all the judges' pimping. He makes Rebecca Ferguson seem so charismatic and upbeat.

Of course, he can just win; that's better than Maloney winning.

100%. We need something different in the charts today anyway. Sick of all the songs that sound the same. He has an amazing voice. With the Motown vibe he could end up doing stuff like Ce Lo Green, or maybe something totally original.

And it doesn't matter if he's shy, because we're here to listen to him sing, not to sit down with him and have a conversation. Despite being shy he is not afraid to speak up for what he believes in and to draw attention to a very important cause. He is a very strong person.

Absolutely agree with you.

I also think he is not as shy as he was in the beginning.

Not marketable in the sense of One Direction, but definitely could carve a niche in the music industry. For me, he has something very Will Young about him. In one interview, he already stated he thought his best music industry chances were to tap into the American gospel market adding that it isn't big in the UK. I think that despite his lack of confidence, he has a sensible head on his shoulders and would say no. The other Will Young vibe is that whilst he isn't marketable as a cookie-cutter popstar, but could carve longevity by staying true to what his fanbase likes.
