Comparing A/V Receiver specs

Trying to choose between AV receivers LG SR906 and Yamaha YHT196 but have a sound spec. query. My LG 37LS570T TV when tuned to SD channels shows MPEG on the channel info and on HD channels HE-ACC which I understand are the respective sound formats transmitted. The TV set 'on screen' user guide indicates MPEG input is converted to PCM output and HE-ACC input to DD output. The LG SR906 manufacturers on-line spec sheet states both formats can be decoded. Surprisingly the Yamaha only states DD - no mention of PCM. Am I missing something here as I would expect the Yamaha to cope with the SD format? I am intending to use HDMI ARC as the connection.

They may not mention it in the specs but if you download the manual and search on PCM there are at least 8 hits.

PCM is so bog standard that it is inconceivable that a company like Yamaha would not support it.

Hi Chris - found the manual and a spec sheet inside which seems much more comprehensive than that I first found searching Yamaha YHT196. Under HDMI it mentions PCM as an audio format along with Dolby and DTS. Seems to be quite an art is checking specs. Thanks for the pointer.
