Amaretto
I am brand new to Amaretto!
I went into a bar in London a few weeks ago and asked for Baileys, they had none. Malibu? None. Archers? None. What kind of bar has none of them?? I found it most peculiar. Worried that I would have to remain teetotal for the whole night, on account that they are the only alcohols that I am able to drink, I explained my predicament to the bar maid, who suggested to me a glass of amaretto and cranberry juice. She promised me it would be delicious. It was. so I drank it all night. I forgot to take note of the brand she was serving me though. So, people, can you tell me which amaretto you like? I will treat myself to a bottle or three this Christmas. |

I tried Amaretto recently I thought it was gorgeous, the one I bought was £8.99 from Sainburys, didn't want to buy the more expensive Disaronno in case I didn't like it. I had mine with cola and lots of ice. I'll give cranberry juice a go.

Disaronno...that may have been the one the barmaid served me. But I wouldn't mind trying the sainsburys a go.
The amaretto goes so well with the cranberry juice, it tastes a bit like a bakewell tart, but in a really nice way! |

I reckon they're probably exactly the same just that you're paying for the name with Disaronno. It's supposed to be nice in coffee as well, a bit like Tia Maria haven't tried it yet though.

I once vomited all over myself drinking that. I had no idea what it tasted like a took a big swig and the second before my conscious brain had screamed "marzipan" at me my subconscious evacuated it from my stomach. Hideous stuff (if like me you can't stand marzipan).

I've only tried the Disaronno so can't compare it to other brands. You can tell if it was Disaronno or not because it has the big square cap.
Serve frappe (over crushed ice). It is also good in pot au chocolat or a liqueur coffee. The nicest way to drink it imo is in a Hooded Claw; a stunning, delicious cocktail. ![]() 2 measures amaretto 1 measure Cointreau 5 measures prune juice Shake all ingredient with ice and strain into four small liqueur glasses loosely filled with crushed ice. (serves four). A perfect dessert cocktail, yum. If you think you don't like amaretto or marzipan, try this and think again. ![]() BTW, there are hundreds of sweet and/or subtle cocktails you will love that defang the alcohol bite, if that is your problem with booze. Don't drink crap like Malibu and Archers... support decent bars that offer their customers quality drinks. |

Not a fan of it with cranberry.
I just have it with coke. Tastes like Dr Pepper. There is also a cocktail you can make with it called a Dr Pepper. Another good one is 1xAmaretto, 1xBourbon and topped up with coke or lemonade. |

Last week I had a hot chocolate with amaretto, it was DIVINE! It also cost £8.50 from the hotel bar (my pal bought me it!)Strangely, my flatmate received a Disaronno gift set as her Secret Santa gift from work last week. It has a mini bottle of the stuff, a glass, and some liqueur chocs. She said I can have it

Neat over ice. Best drinking in the world. Liquid marzipan. Hmmm. Funny thing is I can't stand marzipan.

I've got an espresso coffee Amaretto by a make called Bella Veroni which I bought in Makro. It's lovely. Tesco have an offer on for it and if you like sweet black coffee like I do then you'll love it.

Love it with coke and lots of ice. Tastes like a mix between Dr. Pepper and Vanilla Coke.
Amaretto Sours are pretty nice too. |

just bought a bottle of soiree amaretto
£8 for a full bottle, 22% - compared with Disaronno £13 for 50cl, 28% maybe you get what you pay for to some extent. however, i have never really had a problem buying any cheaper brand spirit. The various pimms replacements are all perfectly adequate. |
