If true that's a clear message about her return to the UK show.

I don't think Cowell will be annoyed as such, more likely he will be impressed with her guts. Cowell has always said that Cheryl is a lot smarter than anyone ever gives her credit for. To be honest after the launch of Cowells book and the things he said about Cheryl I would be very surprised if she came back to the show, if she did, you can bet your backside it was a very high price tag

Edited to add.....and yes before anyone says anything...I have read the book

Um she was signed on a one season deal which may or may not be renewable wasn't she not? How can she be owed anything for a second season? She got paid 1.8$m dollars for 4 days

Exactly. How is she claiming she was promised another 2$m for the second season when Fox didn't even pick up the XFUS for season 2 until mid live shows? Doesn't make sense to me.

I don't know, but she was possibly offered a 2 year contract rather than a year since that does seem to be how America works, they wanted Britney to sign for 2 years as well but she refused. When that story came out they were saying its a standard 2 year contract normally in the US unless the judges in question refuse that.

No, as far as I know the standard contract on these shows is 1 year. Everyone had a 1 year contract.

I thought that as well until i read about Britney having to draft in her lawyers because the standard contract is 2 years, her and her lawyers spent weeks hashing out a new 1 year contract because a single year was not originally on offer. I wondered as well if that is why we ended up with Nicole, she possibly signed up for 2 years but by offering to move her to a different (branch if you like) she was still working the contract. It would kind of make sense as well

But why would they put so much stock in an unknown like Cheryl?

Why didnt Paula get a 2year contract also or Steve?

Jlo or Steve Tyler didnt get 2 years either.

I just know that in the end Britney got her 1 year commitment with the option of a second year, but supposedly Cowell wanted a 2 year commitment, so he maybe runs the USA ship a little differently

Maybe Paula did the same as Britney and refused a 2 year, hosts are different and AI is a whole different show to X Factor.

I though the only person that got a multi contract was Simon.. and everyone else got a one year contract and could be axed anytime.

I'm so over Cheryl... She was really a nobody till Simon brought her into Xfactor. She has minimal talent & not much personalilty. Her only saving grace is her looks.

her attorney must have seen her contract before advising her to proceed because i am sure she did not file the legal claim off her own bat. therefore there must be something in it that gives her team reason to expect a win

so unless you are in the legal department of the producers or have seen the contract in some other way your assertion is dubious to say the least

I know, it's hilarious reading these confident assertions about contractual matters from anonymous "experts" with a few posts on an internet forum.

This may come as a surprise, but it actually costs money to sue people. Presumably there must be some legal merit to her argument.

Also remember attorneys have been known take on any old case as long as it makes them money..

Well a contract is two sided, she signed the contract and wasn't up to the job so they fired her, didn't she technically breach the contract by being sh*t at the job she was being paid to do, and did she even spend a penny of that wardrobe budget on her first x factor outfit, she looked atrocious

But perhaps she is down to her last few million and needs the money

Yes she would be a sucker for them. Her "anger" and need to get the last word in and prove something (witness Wagner attack and Toilet incident), has not been satisfied yet? This combined with what may be the absence of a close directive force / voice (think Will i am? after Simon), would leave her open to the things running through her mind and anyone interested in tapping into that for money.

She forgets how lucky she has been and without the likes of Simon promoting her career she would be next to nowhere. For someone with no singing talent to be judging real singers is laughable and to be suing for a theoretical 2nd Season smacks of an ego gone mad. Think you have to look for other reasons than just pure money in this, unless she truly is wrapped up in greed.

Why is it greed? A signed contract is legally binding. Just because Simon changed his mind, doesn't change it. If Cheryl has a signed two-year contract then they will probably have to pay her for the full two years.
