This weekend strictly is back - the official start to the countdown for me! Also, UKfoodnetwork on freeview is doing christmas in september this weekend (8/9th) and showing loads of christmas food programmes - can't wait to get in to the spirit

For me, it started at the weekend with the start of The X Factor, especially since it's clear that they're going after the Christmas No1 (it ends on December 15th, and the Christmas No1 is announced on December 22nd).

I've already started recording Christmas specials of things to watch over the festive period and downloaded a few festive books on my kindle as their going quite cheap. I don't know much about tv production, but I'm assuming that a lot of specials have either been filmed or will be going into production quite soon. Last year I got my radio times from a service station near Birmingham on the saturday it was released. I live in the middle of nowhere so will have to wait a while this year. Getting quite excited now!

I recorded my first Christmas programme back in April. Sky Arts were doing a series of concerts by Andre Rieu, including one 'Home for Christmas'. I have no idea if it is any good, but I plan on not watching it until the weekend before Christmas

I saw that last December - very very good it was, too. Perfect festive fare.

I watched A Christmas Carol this week which I had skyplused from last Christmas eve, it was weird seeing all the bbc Christmas idents again

I recorded It’s a Wonderful Life back in February, that’s my next watch

I’m beginning to feel rather Christmassy now although apparently today is gonna be a scorcher

For the past couple of years the X factor winner has failed to make the Christmas number 1 slot, in 2011 it was The Military Wives last year it was The Justice Collective. Hopefully something non X factor will make it to this years Christmas number 1.

Why come into a Christmas thread just to say things like that?

Yeah, we're all thinking it but it's rude to actually say it

Hello fellow Spyers

Long time lurker, first time poster, followed this thread for a couple of years, thought I'd join the craze this year and start posting... Loved the guess the cover game last year, and I'm actually starting to feel quite Christmassy already, albeit being September...

Anyway, ill be around for the next few months hope to have some decent convos and debates about my favourite topic... CHRISTMAS...

5.05pm Film: Lady and the Tramp
6.25 BBC News/Regional News
6.45 Film: A Christmas Carol
8.15 Merlin
9.00 EastEnders
9.35 Outnumbered
10.15 Mrs. Browns Boys
10.45 The Vicar of Dibley

Bet it won't be that good this year. I predict:

6.45 Atlantis
7.30 EastEnders
8.00 Holby City
9.00 Miranda Meets Brucie
10.00 Mrs. Browns' Boys
10.40 Citizen Khan
11.10 BBC News
11.30 Midnight Mass”

This is going to be shown in a few weeks time.

Can't see where it has been mentioned, apologies if it has. Jack Whitehall tweeted last night that there would be a Christmas special of Bad Education

I think we all know who the sad person is really - no one likes a bully or people who take enjoyment from trying to spoil other peoples lighthearted fun.

On a nicer note - they better had put this back on air! It made my December listening to this while at work leading up to the holidays. And also driving my hubby mad with it on in the kitchen

Didn't Smooth Xmas start either very end of October or 1st November?

I seem to recall hearing it when channel surfing in the car when we went away for my daughter's birthday on Nov 2nd

I'm sure it was on all of November up to 26th December, so I'll be looking out for it being advertised as I also listen to the smooth 70's & 80's stations and last time they advertised the christmas station on there.

Who's looking forward to Christmas 24 launching this year? All those delightfully tacky festive movies! Can't wait!
