Just out of curiosity, which scapegoat are they using to justify a nearly 15% price rise (and they can't use the price of paper going up - none of the other magazines have raised their prices)?

Not too fussed about Toy Story 3. Genius film but one of my girls loves it so have already seen it way too many times!
Looking to all things Christmas 2013. |

Not a lot changes over Christmas TV does it. It is infact the worst TV of the entire year. Simply browse all your old Radio Times listings going back 20 years, and you can safely assume that you have got your next 20 years of TV sorted for Christmas, except maybe The King's Speech at some point before Christmas 2032 maybe! Christmas Day is a Saturday that year just so you know! There, I've knocked your potential 2015 record sideways by a mile, and a full 17 years!

Hopefully wizzywick will see this and answer my previous question ![]() Sorry CUP OF TEAAA! I have only just come back into this thread and have just read your question. The comments I posted were not necessarily factual but just snippets of comments made by people on various websites. I am still waiting for someone to confirm them but the BBC Disney (Buena Vista) deal is readily available to view on the web. It was an eight year deal signed in 2004. Hope this helps, but apologies that I haven't got concrete evidence for you. |

I agree, the same thing applies to Christmas TV idents, the excitement and anticipation generated weeks before Christmas is hard to believe.
![]() Now, where can I find out more about those idents…! |

Considering recent price hike, don't believe there'll be too many takers caring about RT's cover for the next 48 or 49 weeks.

Happy New Year all!
So on reflection, what did you enjoy the most on the 2012 christmas TV schedule and would like to see again in 2013? Did you all manage to watch anything you actually highlighted as essential viewing??!! I found the Royle Family a big disappointment and fell asleep half way though having spent most of December looking forward to it! I really enjoyed Room on the Broom (highlighted programme in my RT!) and the snowman & dog repeat on christmas day. Other than that, Dr Who was good, bit still only saw it on i player about 3 days later! Oh, and Outcnumbered was ok too - don't recall being blown away though My christmas RT died a horrible premature death too - mid holiday I knocked a glass of fizzy over it while playing my son's new matching pairs card game with him - Utter Devistation!! |

Saying that I do have about 10 films still waiting to be watched. p.s. My RT suffered a similar fate. |

I had by then drunk a fair few beers so everything I was watching on TV would of been enjoyable. ![]() I may watch it again, without the beers for a second opinion.

I bought the 2012 Christmas edition of the Radio Times for old times sake, read the features, but didn't use it once as a practical guide to check programmes. Ultimately I just found myself using the interactive guide on the tv.
And it was a particularly poor year for Christmas TV. The only two programmes that left a lasting impression was The Girl and Restless. Otherwise it was a load of dross. |

By this time last year BBC, ITV and Channel 4 had already announced some Christmas 2012 specials (yes, really!) including Downton Abbey, a Christmas Dickens drama (turned out to be Great Expectations) and The Snowman and the Snowdog. Has anyone seen any info in Christmas 2013 yet??

Plus today Hebburn (BBC2 sitcom) has been awarded a 2nd series and a Christmas Special for 2013. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2013-...r-bbc2-in-2013 |

It became a parody of itself. The real life cutting edge cynisism was replaced by unbelievable farce. I was really surprised and dissappointed in equal measures that Cash & Aherne allowed this sub-standard piece of work anywhere near a studio. Unless already legally obliged to do so, there is no way the BBC will be comissioning another of these. It was terrible
