They've probably got the Welsh and Irish captains on their covers, especially considering they're playing each other on Saturday.

Well, we’re almost at the end of January with no real news to speak of yet, by this time last year we already knew of a few shows such as Snowman 2 etc….

Has anyone been brave enough to predict an entire Christmas day line up yet?

Sorry Mrstreetcred but what do you mean by Royle filter> I note that wizzywick and Claire's Dad have both got an early line-up with the Royle's omitted (wise choice both)

Because it was one of the highest rated programmes over Christmas 2012 getting 11.68m viewers on Christmas Eve!

I understand it's not every one's cup of tea, like any comedy it depends on your sense of humour. Personally I find it very funny.

At the bottom of this article is a mention of a new animation for the BBC this Christmas. No suggestion of when over Christmas though.

i really don't get Mrs Browns Boys - sorry! I just can't understand how it get's so mancy viewers... unless the viewing figures don't take in to account how many people watched the first few minutes then turned off wondering why it was so highly rated :-~

As I said above people have different sense of humours, I can't stand Ricky Gervais but many people find him funny.

I agree with you Claires_dad, there always seems to be a certain smugness about him. Not to my taste, but undeniably popular.

As for Mrs Brown's Boys, I hadn't watched it until about two weeks ago when my mother of all people, a very respectable lady in her 80s who would never dream of swearing, said it was exceptionally funny. I watched it. I laughed like a drain!

Although it is crude and vulgar in the extreme, I like the ensemble cast, the way they bow to the audience at the end and involve us throughout the show. It's also (apart from the language) very old-fashioned and slightly redolent of the radio shows I grew up with in the 1950s and 60s such as Round the Horne. Which was also crude and vulgar although I didn’t understand that at the time! And there’s a warmth that is often absent in this day and age.

Hi Claires Dad, firstly can I just say again, thanks for all your excellent work with your website (along with this). I agree it wouldn't do forr us all to like the same thing but I do think viewing figures Especially at Christmas can be badly distorted. For many Christmas Eve - Christmas Night, Boxing Day Night, are traditional Christmas family viewing nights. I think the beeb are guaranteed 10m viewers at 9 -10pm slots before a programme is even scheduled. I would like to see start and finish viewing figures for the Royle's. I think it would make very interesting reading. Also, only just got around to watching 'Restless' which was excellent and again demonstrates the quality of BBC Drama.
