I'm hoping to pick up my 14-20 issue on my way to work this evening. I'm so excited to get my hands on my xmas issue in a few days!!

Not sure if it's the NI edition only of RT but latest edition (14th-20th) I purchased today is claiming the xmas RT will be available from next Wednesday 12th and not from this coming Saturday. Every other xmas RT edition from previous years claimed the issue would be available from the Saturday even though it was Tuesday/Wednesday before it was released nationwide.

So it's possible this year the xmas edition will be released on same day nationwide and not 4 or 5 days earlier in certain areas.

The 14-20 December South issue says the Christmas RT will be on sale from Monday December 9th.

Plus the e-mail sent to subscribers said subscription issues would be posted on 9/12 but it would be available in the shops in selected stores in London and the South East from Saturday 7th December.

It's Monday in your edition but claiming Wednesday in the NI edition. That's a change from past when RT claimed it would be on general release from the Saturday.

Some of the TV magazines for ID 21/12 (Doubles) will be on-sale from Saturday. For casual sale, print runs are being delivered into wholesalers from Friday late-afternoon. Almost all of them will be on sale in all regions by Monday afternoon.

Let me add... print runs, from what I understand, are slightly reduced from 2012/2013.

Do we think the BBC Christmas Idents will be released on Saturday before Strictly?

That would be my guess.

I noticed while picking up my copy of Radio Times(NI edition ) in Dublin that the TV Times says it will be available from Tuesday Dec 10th ( is that the same everywhere ? ) and TV & Satellite Week from Saturday Dec 8th

Well the radio times has just tweeted a picture of the cover of the christmas issue ... And it's Father Christmas with the snowman and the snow dog, bit disappointing as this was pretty much the cover last year!!!

As you say disappointing and lacking originality

Nice enough, but not up to the hype

RT new year resolution - must do better

I love it. It's a nice cover. Although yes, very similar to last years.

It says Monday 9th December for the North of England edition. I will try my newsagents on that day but I strongly suspect they won't have it on sale until the Tuesday.

And I think the cover is a very good one but is not very imaginative using exactly the same theme as last year. Mind you, I'm not entirely surprised. Remember Wallace and Gromit were also cover stars twice in 2008 and 2010 respectively.

Not that keen on it tbh, my favourite cover of recent years is 2011's so I was hoping for something along those lines.

Well no-one has guessed the cover in the competition so I'm currently looking at who was closest and will choose a winner later this evening!

Well I got the Santa and snowy scene bit right

Must be someone a little closer though.

I like the cover but it just appears to be, how can I describe it ; a little lazy.

The cover should be weeks of planning, not conjured up in an afternoon.

Fabulous cover, very festive indeed.

There was no way an OAH nor Doctor Who theme was ever going to grace the front cover of this years double issue - get real! that'd put many people off buying.

Nothing beats a good old fashioned traditional cover to get into xmas spirit.
