Received the Christmas issue yesterday up here in Scotland - plenty of reading for the money, but was really disappointed with this year's cover - taking nothing away from the artist and the programmes, but why this year? Both progs are repeats!

I think they could have come up with something a lot better for this year, given the raft of new programmes or other traditional alternative style covers. It smacks of being lazy given the high quality content of the magazine itself.

Of course they wouldn't - they would be idiots!

The survey was asking MY personal opinion, what would make ME more likely to buy the magazine in the future, so I gave it. I don't need comprehensive listings but I would quite like a general guide to the week's tv and tv in general (hence why I'm on DS all the time ). I'm not expecting for a second for them to actually do it!

But saying that, I suspect the younger generations will share a similar view to me and if they don't want the RT to go the way of Blockbuster they will need to keep up with the times. Quite a few of the survey questions were aimed at whether the magazine was old fashioned or value for what it is so they're obviously concerned as well.

Can I start a quiz? ending when it runs out of steam, first person to answer question correctly asks the next one:
Which Drama in the Christmas listings starts with the sentence
"I'll never forget Gypsy's Acre as I saw it that very first time"
this was how the film version started so it might be different with the Drama

Aha, got it. Jesus Christ Superstar as a RT Choice but no write up on Choice page.
Not spotted the Birds Of A Feather mistake (other than its recommissioning).

OK. The Next Question:

Martin Sheen and Jonas Armstrong star in BBC1's "The Whale" this Christmas. But where were the ship in a storm scenes filmed?

First correct answer giver sets the next question.

There isn't anything about the 8th issue that I can see.

No problems canceling my subscription after 8 issues.

From their email:-

“Thank you for your email regarding your subscription to Radio Times magazine.
We can confirm that your subscription has been set to expire at the end of the current term.
The last issue dispatched to you will be the issue which is on sale on 7th January 2014.
As you currently pay by direct debit I would advise you to also cancel the payment at your bank or building society.

This week's cover (14-20 Dec) has Mary Berry & Paul Hollywood on the cover and is also the issue with their recipes in.

Hello tanni1930 and CK26A1, could either of you or indeed anybody in Ireland please tell me what the RTE Guide is like at Christmas time ? Does it have a Christmas double issue like the Radio Times does ?
