I have a Samsung home cinema (model HT-D5550) which I have my xbox 360 connected to using an optical cable but the sound keeps dropping out from time to time. I have tried using another optical cable but the problem is still there. The sound works fine if I just use the TV but prefer using the cinema while gaming.

Any idea's what may be causing this problem ?. Thanks

I will try connecting my PS3 the same way and will let you know if the problem is the same.
