As a non dancer, but based on pure enjoyment and ability to recognise different dances, liked Louis/Flavia, Dani/Vincent and Kim/Pasha. Thought Louis and Flavia's dance was likely to be the one that worked less well (as mentioned on ITT by the American guy who thought it was a weird combination), but it worked well for me - liked the build up of the music matched to the change of dance and made a change from everyone else merging the dances together. Dani and Vincent not much to say about this, just enjoyed it. Kim/Pasha enjoyed this as well, but I do not like the "fish pout" - reminds me of my daughter when she was about 5 and being stroppy.

Kim and Pash, Dani and Vincent, and Denise and James. But most of all the first two. Kim and Dani are so lucky to have clever choreographers

Even though Nicky is still not good technically I really enjoyed the dance thought the choreography worked well. Loved Kimberley and Pasha. Really enjoyed Dani and Vincent's fusion. And though Louis and Flavia danced fabulously the fusion didn't quite work for me.

Dani's top. Crisp, clean, demarcated.
Denise. Mistakes but a good combo.
Louis. Kinda worked but rubbish music.
Kimble. A tango and what else?
Lisa. Good combo but poorly executed.
Nicky. Opposite to Lisa. Fairly well-executed but poor combo.

I kind of think they all worked for me.

Some were just better fits than others and some were dance better.

Definitely the most difficult and most unusal was Louis and Flavia's Rumba/Tango. Handled well by both Louis in his danicng and Flavia in her choreography.

Second to that was the American Smooth foxtrot and Samba. Not quite as hard as The Tango/Rumba as the American smooth allows for more integration generally. It was a great routine from Karen, just not danced well by Nicky.

Tango/Cha-Cha also very tricky to pull off but some aspects are similar. Both has stacatto moments which help when combining the two styles. I thought Kimberly and lisa coped well with it, but Kimberely was a lot better technically thatn Lisa and Pashas choreography was better than Robins. I like a proper fusion mish/mash rather than dancing one then the other.

Quickstep/Jive - both lend themselves to each other and although not a perfect match they seem to ahve similar aspects within them that make transitions easy. James was VERY lazy in his choreography tho, basic quickstep mixed with pretty much exactly the same jive mvoes as her previous Jive.

Eastiest combo - Charleston/Quickstep. There are actual Charleston mveos in the Quickstep reptoire, so I see this a bit of a cop out fusion. Dont get me wrong the dance was great and Dani did well but it was a lazy fusion.

The quickstep charleston worked best...but then it should have done seeing as the charleston is part of the quickstep.

I was so close to giving him one - er, I mean: 9.

Sums up for me exactly the difference and why Loius should have shaded Dani (ooooh you are soooo small....here's a patronising extra mark or two) in the ranking

I must say I was surprised that all the fusion dances seem to come together much better then I was expecting.

Well done to all the Pros for putting together such great routines. I wonder did they get much outside help.

My top three would be, Kim+Pasha, Denise+James, Louis+Flavia.

I thought Denise, Dani and Kimberley's dances worked the best. They blended really well and the choreography was great, lovely transitions in and out of the two dances. I preferred that to the way Robin and Flavia decided to choreograph with one half being one dance and the other half being the second, didn't really feel like a fusion for me.

I think Louis and Flavias fusion was the best of the night. SO different from any of the others and they blended the two totally different dances perfectly. I think this might even be my favourite dance of the entire series..... Absolutely spine-tingling!

I also liked Kimberley and Pasha but don't think it should have topped the leaderboard and definitely not a 40 dance IMO.

I loved the whole concept of fusion dances.

Dani and Denise's were always going to work, Quickstep and Charleston/Jive are similar in tempo and vigour so they're good combinations.

Kimberley's worked brilliantly I thought, best choreography Pasha's ever done!

I don't think Louis' worked, it could have been a really nice contrast but the tempo of the music just made the Tango messy.

Lisa's was never going to work as she can't dance ballroom at all or Latin very well.

Nicky's was horrendous - I have no idea what Karen was thinking if it was her choice!

I definitely preferred the dances where the pros choreographed a constant switch between dances rather than just one dance then another, I thought that was a more lazy way of doing it to be honest, and those who did the other way deserved more credit.

Loved Dani's and Kimbely's dances both a marriage made in heaven both had good music which helps enormously.

Only for Denise's wardrobe malfunction she would have scored more and again a good choice of music.

The rest were all a bit meah for me ... a rumba to U2,not for me, Louis has gone back to his robotic emotionless face and frankly leaves me cold, but I fear he may win.

Lisa and Nicky danced better earlier on in the competition and I hope they are in the dance off

Denise, Louis and Dani's dance fusions worked for me..... I have no idea why but Lisa, Kimberley and Nicky's dances did nothing for me....

I enjoyed the dance fusions much better than I'd expected to, but thought Lisa's was a bit of a disaster - she really has fallen behind technically, unfortunately.

I loved the way the dances merged into one another and enjoyed all the choreography tonight. Even when the routine lacked a bit of finesse, the performances were a pleasure to watch.

This ^^

I would rather see dance fusion as part of the show than a swingathon or any other "stamina" dance

wished the couples had danced 2 dances though, should be doing it by quarter final

Just goes to show how subjective dance is because I personally preferred Louis/Flavia's dance which had two clear sections and did not see it as a lazy way out as the qualuty of the dance was excellent and the transition worked well. As others have mentioned some dances have similarities so will always "fuse" together, whilst others are at different ends of the spectrum which would always make it difficult to produce a dance which switches from one to the other.

So, madetomeasure, you notice everything bad about the dancing, but this only draws attention to your poor spelling of people's names and your ridiculous anti-Denise campaign.

For me, tonight's choreography honours go to:
1. Pasha
2. Flavia
3 Vincent
4. James
5. Karen

and sorry, Robin, you didn't even try with Lisa

Worked well
Denise & James - Jive & QS - Great combination and music choice. James triumphed with that choreography.
Dani & Vincent - Charleston & QS - Brilliant combination and music choice . Fantastic choreography by Vincent.
Kimberley & Pasha - Tango & CCC - Good combination and music choice. Pasha's amazing choreography showed Robin how the dances could be fused.[b]

Did not work well
Louis & Flavia - Rumba & Tango - Poor combination and music choice and felt Flavia had to work really hard to blend the choreography.
Lisa & Robin - Tango & CCC - Good combination and music choice. But the Tango was a bad choice for Lisa because she has such a short neck and struggles with sharp moves. Robin let her down with his choreography and was shown up by ALL the other pros when he did one dance in two parts instead of a proper fusion of two dances.
Nicky & Karen - Samba & AS - Terrible combination and music choice. The choreography looked so forced. I hope Karen didn't make the dance or music choices.

At the start of the dances I thought that Dance Fusion was awful and then along came Louis, Dani and Kimberley (Flavia, Vincento and Pasha too) - and then I got it. Loved the last three dances.

As routines I thought they all worked apart from Nickys. Whether they were performed well or not is a different matter (I'm talking about you Lisa).

I'd be happy to see fusion back again next year but hope they make it so all the couples have to perform the same number of old/new dances as part of the routine.
