Snap! I said on another board I'd like to see it back next year as part of the semi finals, with all the couples dancing fusions of dances they'd already danced.

I note that the three pros who we all predicted would do best at fusing dances did indeed head up the leaderboard, whereas the three we didn't think would be so good were in the bottom half, with two of them in particular being messes.

Same here I thought it was like a show with two halves.... first three dances were awful and last three were fantastic!

I'm glad that Kimberley and Pasha stole the show in the star spot coming on last.

Am I alone in not enjoying fusions week? I may have been tired from work and not fully concentrating but I kind of found the whole thing confusing and would've prefered if the contestants had danced two seperate routines or something.
With the exception of Dani and Vincent I wasn't convinced by any of the other efforts.

They weren't my favourites of the night Terry but I did enjoy them .... Louis and Flavia stole the show for me. I thought they were brilliant!

All the fusions worked much better than I thought they would. How about three-way fusions next year? In fact, I have a look at this number, which might be suitable for a six-way fusion of ballroom tango/Argentine tango/foxtrot/rumba/quickstep/jive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qr91dJvbqs

That saves me typing, I agree entirely.
I think most posters here knew Nicky was on to a loser (barring a miracle) as soon as the dances were announced.

Louis' and Kimberley's were better than expected. We all knew Dani's would be good because the Charleston is part of the Quickstep anyway so it wasn't a proper fusion.

Agree with you. I loved Louis and Flavia's tango and rumba - very dramatic. What I don't get is all the judges (except Craig of course) raved about their dance but gave them 9s when really I think Louis should have had at least two 10s - at least the same mark as Dani. Can't figure it out.

Dani & Vincent and Louis & Flavia

Louis and Dani. Dancers usually put bits of charleston into quickstep anyway so it was going to work, rumba and tango was a higher risk. Kimberley's dance somehow did not click with me despite tens across the board. Craig lost credibility in my eyes with his constant under/over marking on a whim, so what do I know if he liked it or was just pushing some agenda again.

IMO they all worked apart from Robins (and Lisa but I mention only Robin as he is the pro so the choreography is down to him) which I thought he cheated on.

He didnt fuse his two dances together like the other couples, he just did a tango and then a cha cha

Pointless if you ask me.

The whole point, I understand, of a fusion dance is to fuse 2 dances into one - is it not?

Ok - Nickys wasnt a great fusion of samba and an american smooth BUT Karen fused the 2 dances into 1 which is what I understood was supposed to happen

My favourite was Pasha and Kimberly followed by Dani and Vincent

But Louis' routine was just Rumba bar only 26 seconds of Tango at the end (of a 96 second routine). At least Lisa and Robin did almost 50-50 (45-51 to be exact).

May I ask - were the couples free to choose whichever dance fusions they wanted - or were they allocated them?

Flavia said they weren't allowed to do a dance they'd done the previous week or one they were planning to do in the semi finals, but beyond that we don't know how much choice they had.

I have the same question!!

If the pros were able to choose - why would Karen choose a samba and an american smooth? why not choose something that Nicky had already done like Pasha and Robin

If the pros werent allowed to choose - then poor Nicky getting a samba and an american smooth - two dances he hadnt done before when Kimbley and Lisa got 2 dances they had done before and Louis and Dani got one dance they had already done before

I need answers lol

Loved Dani and Kimberley fusions, choreography by Vincent and Pasha absolutely fantastic.
Liked Louis and Flavia's but preferred the regular changes rather than first one then the other routine.
Pity about dress incident for Denise though the QS element was much weaker than the jive.
I actually enjoyed Nicky and Karen's fusion but came over as more of a Showdance.
Lisa and Robin was their worst by miles, littered with mistakes from the very beginning and the fusion didn't come off at all.

I asked Flavia and the way she answered I got the impression that they were given the music and the pros then decided what dances would fit to it.

I can't remember the exact words Olive but I asked Flavia last week if the pros chose the dances or if they were given them and she said that it depended on the music given, so I think they were each given a piece of music (or a choice of a couple of pieces maybe)... and they then decided on what dances would suit the music best. That is the way I picked it up anyway but I could be wrong.

Looks like Karen is like one of those people on Masterchef who insist on challenging themselves by doing something they have never done before. Wrong kind of a challenge in both cases.
