The worst camerawork for the best dance
petertard

It was hard to tell how good Kimberley's dance was because the camerawork for it was so abysmal, the worst of the night.

I couldn't agree more- the programme makers care more about showing what cameras and editing can do than what the dancers can do. I've written to the BBC twice over the years, but they simply say that the viewers like it. Oh no- you've got me started all over again...

Don't get me started on the (yes, abysmal) camera work. Why is the studio audience allowed to see the dancing but we're not? Couldn't they put the "straight" version on BBC4?

Very insulting to so many viewers who want to see the footwork .

I absolutely HATE and DETEST the camera work of SCD. It remains till this day like one operated by a drunken soldier, and the bull-in-the-china-shop stylie of the camera running towards the dancers and then rapidly pulling away from them. What is the whole freakin point of that?!

Or see the whole body in shot the whole time, Fred Astaire style. Fred once remarked "either the camera will dance or I will". Television people are always talking about him but don't practice what he preached.
