My god, he had barely started singing before you started this thread. Talk about willing him to fail.
His nerves are getting to him that's all - what counts it that we all know how well he can sing.
He's always flat. He's one of those singers who will need several takes on most of his lines in the studio to put a song together.

LOL love the expertise on this board. So good.
The "mentors" and singing coaches should have sorted out the over singing issue for him. He has a unique voice but needs to be more disciplined in his performances.

There was an independent study which looked at how many bum notes the various acts hit. It found Jahmene hit exactly as many bum notes as Rylan. Althought Chris hit even more.

The bum notes were before the microphone went wonky. and of course, he was flat in the first song too.

Agreed - when he saw her beckoning him over he must have thought "that's not what we rehearsed" and the nerves would have gone on over-drive. It could have spoiled his performance but no, they were great!

You can't spoil something that flat. If anything the microphone will get him pity votes.
