The acoustics are bad and it looks like an old metal air raid shelter from WW2.

There is no atmosphere at all it sounds so quiet. It's only when the judges stand up and repeat over and over to make some noise, even then it's hardly anything.

I agree. I did notice that when they were singing, their voice echoced a lot. Not good for them when they're trying to do everything they can to win a place in the final two.

I feel sorry for Jahmene. That mic incident was dissapointing.

I hope that James and Jahmene go through and Christopher is third.

How can you judge venue acoustics? What you're hearing is a live feed taken from the soundboard... the acoustics won't really make a difference in a TV broadcast... the only people who will know what the venue sounds like will be those in the venue...

There's just about an appropriate amount of natural echo and reverb you can hear... it's certainly better sound than I've heard on this program lately!: )

LOL xmel, no it's not.

That isn't the Manchester Arena (MEN) they're at... they're filming it live from Manchester Central which is an arena on the other end of the city centre. It's been more or less disused for years now.

Manchester Arena is a very hit and miss venue for sound though... it can be amazing, but equally awful another night... just depends on the technicians.

After a nine year break, it was used for concerts by Snow Patrol in December 2006, and by Morrissey and The Verve. Marilyn Manson, Franz Ferdinand, Manic Street Preachers, Arctic Monkeys,Bloc Party and Hard-Fi held concerts in December 2007. The venue hosted concerts by Placebo in December 2009, Arcade Fire, Biffy Clyro, 30 Seconds To Mars, The Taste of Chaos Tour 2010, deadmau5, Pendulum in December 2010 and The Eighth Plague Tour. In 2011, it hosted The Girls' Day Out Show.[

It's former name name is GMex. It used have lots of big bands/artists on, till the Arena came along.

The Labour party hold their conference there, every year and it's still used as an exhibition hall.

I saw the verve there a few years ago and the acoustics were rubbish. Coral supported too and just the same, it's better the nearer the front you are but towards the rear it's just echoy mush, though I can imagine its suits some artists, Kyle sound quite good!

This is what stadiums in Manchester are like. Void of any sound and allergic to party atmosphere.

Were you at Elbow, Gladys Knight, BB King, Eagles, Simon and Garfunkel then?

All at the MEN Manchester and all bloody fantastic acoustically.

Also the Apollo and Academy are great too.

Can't believe they picked the GMEX over the MEN it's a far superior venue.
