Don't get me wrong, I love this song, but she would have been far better off promoting Catch My Breath because it has decent radio airplay.

Promoting the GH album
So 3008

I'm disappointed she didn't sing Catch My Breath, now it's going to remain a mega flop.

It wasn't her doing, The bosses changed her performance around, I am annoyed at her treatment on X Factor tonight, They barely showed her and used a corny video montage behind her, She's better than anyone else there, I think they used Breakaway to go with the theme of the video but I wish they would have let her just sing Catch My Breath to promote the single and give her a slot like the other guests

I think she was treated very unfairly. They didn't even do a single close up shot of her. They just showed the video in the background.

In my opinion she is the best artist to ever come from one of these shows and she was totally pushed aside. On the bright side, she gave an amazing vocal performance (especially towards the end of the song)

Her performance was dull and lifeless. Breakaway is a good song but that version left a lot to be desired. I agree she was sidelined throughout her own performance which is a bit strange. Maybe that's why she gave a half hearted performance.

I second that, She's the best thing to come from any reality show and has had the most success than anyone else worldwide, The fact she was nominated for 4 new Grammy awards earlier this week shows how amazing she is and X Factor were stupid to sideline her tonight..I think the way she laughed with her band the second the performance finished showed she wasn't at all happy with how it went

She's my favourite singer, I was very disappointed. I expected Emeli Sande to do the 'nice' montage thing, not Kelly. Kelly should've been there to give an all out performance of Catch My Breath or People Like Us, or even a medley from the GH!

she looked stunning and was the best performance of the night.

I expect her microphone was not working.

She was completely shafted by the producers. Disgraceful.

I was expecting her to do a medley

That was weak by her high standards. This is what she's capable of.

Up To The Mountain (feat. Jeff Beck)

One of the greatest performances on any of these types of show.

I also think she was shafted but she was a late edition to the final.

Agree with the sentiments on here though. She is by far the most successful act from any of these shows and I don't think anyone will reach the heights that she has in terms of international success.

She is also the best female pop vocalist of her generation.

Breakaway would be a fantastic winners single

I thought last month it could be their winners single. It's a very nice song but the performance there was lacking something.

That's exactly what American Idol producers did to Will Yoing when he sang on their final a couple of years back, ran a montage through most of his performance. Leave Right Now was the exit song that year. Perhaps UK producers thought they'd repay the compliment.

It was a common thing to do on Idol and it became common to do it here, pretty sure Leona Lewis did Stop Crying Your Heart Out to a montage in 2009 and didn't Westlife take the 'honour' last year. They're getting worse though for focussing on the screens and not the artist. They may as well have just played Breakaway for all the times it actually showed you Kelly.

I'm a big Kelly Clarkson fan and thought last night performance was nice it was not as outstanding.

I also agree that it was a poor song choice. Breakaway is hardly one of her more memorable songs to promote the greatest hits album, but it did go with the montage that was discreetly playing in the background (Catch my breath would have gone just as nice).

I'll just remain hopeful that breakaway can now get back into the top 40, and that her greatest hits album can stay in the album chart for a 3rd week.

The same thing that happened to Leona Lewis on the X Factor Usa final.
