Opinions Of Last Night

Denise & James
Jive part was great, the Quickstep kicks had problems with the dress though. 9

Lisa & Robin
The Tango was just her usual ballroom - not good for this stage. The Cha Cha Cha was just too much substance, and she forgot steps in parts. 7

Nicky & Karen
I thought the transitions from AS to Samba looked very awkward. It just didn't work and some of it looked very robotic. 7

Dani & Vincent
This was good, but the fusion would have been so easy because Charleston is already in the Quickstep. There was only one problem - in the kicks and flicks section of the Quickstep (1:26 in this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkfsIsk_bSo) she seemed to forget her steps and was just bouncing around while Vincent was continuing. It also seemed a bit predictable so that's perhaps why they didn't get a higher score. 9

Louis & Flavia
I hope I'm not the only one who thought this was over marked? Louis looked very uncomfortable during the Rumba and wasn't showing any emotion, and the Tango didn't work with the song. His face seemed to stay still throughout the whole routine (deep concentration). 8

Kimberley & Pasha
This was just phenomenal. Dani & Vincent's was 10 worthy but I think the reason they didn't get 4 10s was because Kimberley brought the wow factor. The Tango kicks during the chorus were amazing. Pasha's choreography meant the transitions from Tango to Cha Cha really did work and the song fitted excellently. I rate it as one of my favourite routines ever. 10

Can't stand Denise and James. Craig was vile to Nicky. Hurtful and not necessary. Dani and Vincent were brill. Artem looked as gorgeous as ever!!

I agree - Craig's comments about him dancing it again weren't at all nice.

Denise & James
Jive part was very good but, the Quickstep suffered because of the dress. I was disappointed because from what I had seen from the training footage this looked like the dance to beat. 7

Lisa & Robin
The tango was so,so but, I really didn't see much CCC. 4

Nicky & Karen
It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I thought it was a shame none of the judges acknowledged he was doing two new dances. Craig found someone new to pick on. 6

Dani & Vincent
I thoroughly enjoyed this routine and I thought it suited her. Though technically she impresses me every week this is the first week where I felt she looked as if she was enjoying herself 9

Louis & Flavia
The only dance where I wanted so see more of one of the sections. The rumba part was sublime, I was totally with the pair of them. So much so that I was actually disappointed when they went into their tango which was good but, not as good as the rumba 9

Kimberley & Pasha
I honestly didn't get this dance at all. I've watched it again to see what I missed and I remain unconvinced that this is the "dance of the series". I loved the music and really enjoyed the Samba section but, I don't get the pout face for the tango. There was also a part where she seemed to lose balance and her starting stance into the next part was quite ungainly. 8

Over all I enjoyed the 'fusion' and thought it made an interesting change.
I didnt think Robins and Lisas was very imaginative - brought nothing new and didn't seem to flow. (6)
Nicky and Karens was a bit too 'show' dance but Craigs comments were harsh and unfair. (7)
I enjoyed Denise and James they blended the dances well. I didnt notice the problem with the skirt - wouldnt have known had she not laboured the point so much. (8)
Louis and Flavia were very dramatic - built up nicely and followed the music well - didnt wow me though but I enjoyed it and it worked well as a fusion. (8)
Kimberley and Pasha blended their dances so well you couldn't see the join - and that was a small problem for me in that unless I was watching her expression I didn't know which she was dancing! ( down to my limited knowledge of the dances I'm sure) (9)
I would have preferred a little more quick step from Dani and Vincent but it worked in well with the Charlston and was just and fun action packed (9) Would have been 10 for me but I noticed the slight foot fault that Stuart25 mentioned. Still my favourite of the evening though

Pretty much agree with this. I would probably have given Denise an 8 though.

This is really just another thread to state that Kim deserved her ten and was the best of the night, isn't it?

No bitterness = please don't disagree with me.

Kimberley and Pasha did deserve their 4 Tens.

Thanks.

I was torn between 7 and 8 and opted for 7 because I really dislike James. But, you're right I probably should have marked it 8.

Denise & James
Jive section was sharp and precise but lacked the wow factor of seeing it first time round, fusion worked well but I think the dress incident disrupted the flow and Denise seemed a little distracted after that.8

Lisa & Robin
I know it's unfair, but the judges constant overmarking is really turning me against her, so can't claim my dislike of the dance to be purely objective. Tango was her usual ballroom standard, poor. Routine picked up a little in the Cha cha, but disappointing that they didn't make more effort to 'fuse' the dances. Glaring timing errors and forgetting a large part of the routine didn't exactly help, but once again the judges were apparently all ogling Artem/pickling walnuts at that point and failed to pick up on the errors. 5

Nicky & Karen
To be fair, it was tough for Nicky to be learning two new dances, and the styles didn't exactly mesh. Shame he still hasn't been able to correct the posture and bent knees that have been a problem since week one though. 6

Dani & Vincent
Bit of an advantage to have two dances that complimented each other so well, but they made good use of it. One of her best dances so far. Loved the Charleston sections, I'm not normally a fan of the dance, but it suited them perfectly. Less impressed with the QS parts but very strong routine overall. 9

Louis & Flavia
Agree that it was slightly overmarked. I thought Louis did well in the Rumba but when the Tango kicked in it became a little frenetic and uncontrolled. He acted the Rumba pretty well but returned to his unfortunate 'smelling a fart' concentration face when the pace increased.8

Kimberley & Pasha
Loved it, totally crazy, made no sense and all the better for it. The constant switching between trout pout and showbiz eyes 'n' teeth was brilliant. One of those things that really shouldn't have worked but just did.10

I was dreading 'Dance Fusion' but it has been one of my favourite weeks.

I Loved Dani &Vincent's routine - my favourite of the night, closely followed by Louis and Flavia. I'd have given a 9

I did like Kimberly & Pasha, but more from a technical sense than performance. I wonder if the two styles really go - serious Tango and frivolous Cha cha ? Toss up between 8 or 9 depending on whether heart or head votes

I have said before I don't think this season has had the sparkle of previous seasons, no dancer has excelled and the standard has been lower. But this week the above have made me eat my words. They all danced rather than got through the routine.

Denise was a tiny bit disappointing. Perhaps the problem with the skirt was the issue? They have been a little underwhelming for a couple of weeks now and overtaken by the others. 7? Is that a bit harsh?

Nicky! Mixing AS and Samba Didn't work. He is watchable, but couldn't pull off such a bizarre combination. Not as bad as Craig made out though! 6

Lisa she just isn't really progressing is she. Her ballroom is poor and her Latin is usually only elevated from average by her undeniable enthusiasm. This week though I think the transition from ballroom to latin drained that enthusiasm and was replaced with bizarre gurning. 4

Overall, I liked Dance Fusion and I thought it brought out the best in some contestants but highlighted the flaws in others.

Denise & James
I liked the routine a lot although I noticed the dress catching moment and often I fail to see the mishaps. 8

Lisa & Robin
Like Darcey I preferred the tango start to the cha cha cha finish. In the latter part Robin danced the socks off Lisa, which didn't highlight her very well. 6

Nicky & Karen
I missed the samba most in this fusion but thought the routine was quite sophisticated and these were two dances that Nicky had yet to attempt. 6.5

Dani & Vincent
The easiest of the fusions because the dances segued so well together. There was a great moment with good camera angle where they were stepping in hold but bodies at a distance and then swiftly it became charleston. That took my breath away. Vincent's choreography this year has really impressed and show cases Dani well. 9

Louis & Flavia
I loved Louis's rhumba! I would have preferred him to have danced the rhumba only and when they moved into tango I lost some interest. Yes his face was lacking emotional expression but the movement of his body in rhumba moves was excellent. 8 (9 for the rhumba.)

Kimberley & Pasha
I need to watch this again as I was over excited and can't think of anything pertinent to write apart from I loved it! 10

I thought the way that Pasha choreographed that dance to the music was clever with the tango kicks being on a crash of thunder.

I thought dance fusion week would be dreadful but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Only two dances really worked for me though- Denise and James, and Kimberley and Pasha. I think the fusion worked far better when they went in and out of the two different dances, instead of just doing one dance after the other, like Lisa and Robin, and Louis and Flavia. Nicky and Karen did do the former but it was a bit of a mess and I couldn't really tell what dances they were doing. The music was completely wrong for an AS. Dani and Vincent were excellent but it was really just a charleston. Not enough quickstep at all.
