Grimsby Evening Telegraph - 20th December
Interest in operatic acts for 2005 has spiralled thanks to Grimsby's Matt Stiff.
The success of his band G4 on TV's The X-Factor has been credited as a major factor for the increase. Eileen Nagle, director of Edgewood Productions Ltd, the management company for groups such as the Three Irish Tenors, said: "Since G4 were first spotted on the X-Factor, we've seen a 30 per cent increase in enquiries from the UK market for performers such as the Three Irish Tenors.
"People have seen just how enjoyable this type of music is - it's no longer just about classical performances. G4 have shown what an experience this fusion of musical styles can be.
"Prefabricated music and the same old pop has its place, but as in any market, people want something new and different.
"The public have now opened up to music that combines new and old styles with real talent, creating massive potential for music that stands out from the crowd."
