What has happened to Leona Lewis' voice?
I was watching some lottery thing last night and Leona performed, she sounded atrocious!
Has she been having vocal problems for a while? |

I don't reckon she has been taking care of her vocals. She was amazing at her tour back in June 2010. She wasn't that good when she did Hackney a few months ago. Even with her voice on her new album, it sounds so strained and the magic has gone completley.

She had a cold some time back and she's done quite a bit of flying in the last few weeks. Her voice has always been prone to problems after long haul flights. Quite why she insists on doing these long flights when she's supposed to be promoting her album here is beyond me.

I'm worried for her. There's been so many setbacks in the past year: including the album being postponed; It not doing as well as it deserved to have done and now the flu which has crippled her voice. And what's worrying me that most is that she doesn't seem to have either noticed or done some worrying herself. Her voice needs to be stronger than ever at this critical moment as one spellbounding performance might save the album, but rather than that, we've had to witness the opposite happen. Trips to shanghai, singapore and wherever are really not helpful and neither is her managment. Glassheart as next single or next album I say.

Her album charted at #3 not #33
Spirit sold over 300k in its first week, while Echo sold 160k and now GH only sold 30k. |

There's a lot more going on behind the scenes I suspect. I feel a bit sorry for her, she's probably got the usual problems of a bubble of yes people around her telling her things are fine...until the chop comes.
The album is poor in fact I'd use a stronger word starting with 'S' except for two tracks, Come Alive and Glassheart, why the album isn't full of tracks as strong as that is beyond me and why they release a steaming piece of dog poo like Lovebirds is also beyond me. I just hope Leona can manage to get out of her deal and not end up like Shayne, if she has to complete the 5 albums, I suggest back into the studio and an album of covers for Easter and a greatest hits or live (unplugged album) and then bye bye Cowell. It's the only way to save what's left of her career. |

It's the only way to save what's left of her career. I think the biggest problem is single selection with Leona. The wider public will never see her progression as an artist. Glassheart & Come Alive represent a more relevant, contemporary artist, as apposed to songs like Unlove Me and Lovebird which are the same old Leona. Both could've fit on Spirit/Echo aswell. I read she's going back into the studio after tour, I don't think Syco are finished with her yet. My prediction is a Christmas album at the end of 2013, with an album of the back of that in early 2014. They probably think a Christmas album will be huge, I just know this is what Syco are thinking. |

Is she likely to be dropped? |

Glassheart is not that much of a bad album, but it's an album which I think tried to be something different and daring, but failed miserably. For album that was worked on for over 2 years, including 1 year where they scrapped it and re did the album, it doesn't sound like a long term project.
I would love to hear what the original Glassheart album sounded like. I hope past songs recorded for the Glassheart sessions come to light soon. |

I think it's her best Album to date. Huge step-up from Echo. She has been promoted terribly. One performance on X Factor wont cut it anymore. She needs to be on chat shows promoting her album, not just singing her latest single. If this album was promoted well, it could of sold loads.

In my opinion, the only songs worth writing home about are Glassheart and Come Alive. From how she described the album before its release, I was under the impression a very experimental record was in the works. Sadly not, but those two tracks have proved to me she can make relevant, current sounding music in 2012. Just a shame neither will see the light of day. |

I'm a huge fan of Leona, but even I have to admit I have no idea why she decided to put Lovebird out there instead of Glassheart. Especially when her management know there was quite a demand for Glassheart.
I love Collide and Trouble and thought they did extremely well but it's like people here expect her to go straight to number one with everything she releases because she's the poster girl for x factor - which she is but give the girl some slack she's hardly flopping as many have claimed. Lovebird is one of my favourites on the album. |

The only "new" songs are Come Alive, Fingerprint, Shake You Up and Stop The Clocks. Everything else was recorded pre the delay.

So did i, especially when she said that Kate Bush was an influence on her for this album. I fail to see any indication of any Kate Bush influence at all.

I noticed her voice was pretty weak when she sang 'Trouble' on XF last month. Don't get me wrong, she sang in tune and the high notes were fine but she sounded strained at times, out of breath and very inaudible on the low notes.
Compare it to her performances of Bleeding Love in 2007 and Run in 2008 and you can tell she's slipped a bit. |

Her live vocals haven't been 100% this era but they weren't during the Echo era either. Her studio vocals are a different thing altogether, she has more control over her voice than ever and has never sounded better IMO. |

She's not interesting enough for chat shows - she may well be the most successful singer from the X Factor but I don't think she has it....sure, she has a fine voice but I'm not remotely interested in buying her albums (or even downloading them for free!) yet I love the likes of Mariah & Whitney....who have "it"
What is "it" if not the voice? |

What about Un Love Me and When It Hurts? Weren't they recorded this year? Also Trouble and Glassheart may not be new but might as well be considered 'new' because the 2011 versions sounded completely different.
