iPhone 3GS - "no service" with new sim

Hi, I have a now ex-contract 3GS that was on O2. The O2 sim was cancelled and my number moved to EE but I want to use the phone with another sim. However every time I put in a new sim (tried Virgin and T-Mobile PAYG sims) the phone displays No Service.

Is there a way around this without wiping the phone (as Apple have suggested).

Did you get o2 to unlock it so it can be used on other networks?

No. The phone was from Carphone Warehouse so I assumed it'd just be unlocked. I don't get an O2 start up screen just the generic apple logo.

No iPhones on any network have carrier branding. That's why you see the apple logo.
Go to this link and request an unlock from O2. It's £15.

But I don't have the number with O2 anymore. This form looks like it's just for O2 customers only.

I think you'll have to get an O2 PAYG SIM then...

It locks to the network that the first SIM card that is inserted is on.

Ifcyouwere on a monthly contract withvo2 have a chat with them about having it unlocked.
