Ive seen a lot worse accommodation when i was a student, (except no-one cried about it).

In x-factor world anything short of a judges houses style mansion is impoverished.

I was going to say my student house last year was falling down around us with damp. The roof even caved in. His bedsit was a palace in comparrison.

Yes, I thought that too. He had a seaview, it looked relatively modern and in your late teens /20's (esp. if a student), looked good to me. However, I think it was more his state of mind whilst living in it, rather than the actual place itself.

His "sob story" is one of the worst ever. He should be grateful he has any kind of roof over his head. Many people don't.

The way the producers actively encourage contestants to bitch and moan about their jobs and homes is despicable. Especially when the country has spent years in a recession...I thought they'd knock that shit on the head but they are worse than ever with it. No sensitivity and understanding towards their viewers at all.

I wonder whatever happened to the poor homeless guy from the auditions who did a runner. He looked like he was in a much worse state than James ever was.

It was what it was. Definitely not sob story material! I'm sitting in my room right now and I don't feel like crying cause I'll 'never get out of here' lol. If that's all they can come up with against Jahmene's very real story (one of the harshest and most genuine ever to be on the show) then they should be ashamed to even go there.

I saw him last weekend in Westfield Stratford. He looked very well to me. Well kitted out and so on.

I thought it was awful. No Laura Ashley wallpaper or Farrow and Ball paints. A complete violation of his human rights. No-one should need to live in such squalor. Poor thing.

Didn't think it was so horribly awful either. Plenty of students live in shittier accomodation.

Doesn't his mum actually dispute the fact that he says she kicked him out and that all that ever happened is that they'd argue and he'd stay at a friends for a couple of days lol

Saltburn is just up the road from me and the flats look ok from the outside, the bedsit itself seemed small but clean and cosy.I think James was in a dark place while he was there though. He more than deserves our votes tonight btw.

Sorry wasnt trying to be negative i was just genuinely wondering what people thought. To me its normal to start off living somewhere not that great, then save up for a flat, then one day a house. I guess it just depends on your background

Should have seen my bedsit in the 70s, i cried in despair. The matress had a huge hole though the middle and the carpet (which i think was a carpet ) was rotten to the core, filthy and smelly.

I've lived in much worse places, I thought it looked like a nice little place to live. And his tears really irritated me and I do actually like James.

Kirsty Allsopp and some bods from the 60 minute Makeover team could really jig the place up with some Cath Kidston floral fabrics, a nicely upcycled 1950's sideboard and what James really needs - an electric toothbrush.

It wasn't exactly a nice place to live, and some of my mates have bigger bedsits etc. I can see why he'd hate living there..

it wasn't the worst flat in the world, but it's a palace to some of the places I've seen, didn't look like a bad area either he was close to the sea.

I suppose it does depend on which area it is.
