Isn't Eastenders a complete Turkey of a soap?
And before you ask, I am a regular viewer. But I also can't stop whistling really annoying tunes.
I have enjoyed the programme intermitantly in the past, and have been holding out for it to get interesting for a long time now. I used to think Eldorado and Crossroads were bad spoofs of soap TV, but EE is really taking the biscuit right now. Have the writers really learned nothing from the history of TV soaps and drama over the past 40 years? Do they even consider the long term effects that their day to day writing will have on the show, or are they content to lurch from week to week with the same old hackneyed and drawn out nonsense? I suspect that many viewers are, like me, waiting and praying for it to turn the corner, with no real evidence of new thinking in site. Now I know there are a lot of obsessed tweenie fans of EE on these forums, who find it difficult to express themselves using fully formed sentences and without resorting to txt spk, but I will happily listen to reasoned arguments which will convince me that EE isn't actually going down the plughole. Its been bad, really bad in recent times, about as bad as it can get, if it got any worse I'd definitely pull the plug. However, I think things will be on the up, just we wont' see it for a while yet. I think Xmas things will start to improve and by summer we'll have seen it revived.

Perhaps they could do with a new set of writers, this lot have run out of steam. But on the whole I like EE so wouldnt like to see it go just because of a bad run.

Apparantly Andy Hunter is a Beethoven fan. Granted I only knew this from the subtitles when he turned off the Xmas music for the classical !
He also seems to have a thing for Nat King Cole ! Have the Albert Square residents never seen a car before ? The way they are hung about Paul's new motor was amusing. Next week, a look at Bridge Street's traffic lights ?! |

Same thing is happening with EE as happened with Brookside - the humour has gone and every one is either evil or thick

I hate all this gangster/drugs/stereotypicical police questioning rubbish. In my opinion the only good thing about tonights episode was the top-notch acting from Gary Beadle and the lack of Sharon and Dennis scenes. Also Kim Medcalf was dire as usual. Hopefully it will get better when all the above storylines are out of the way. I hope they bring Patrick and Yolande to the fore after Paul's death as the actors who play them are both good and their talents shouldn't be wasted.

No. Tonights episode was brilliant and Paul was fabulous. Why can't we be positive for once and not always concentrate on the bad aspects of the soaps?

It's a shame they are wasting that 'Coupling' actress, as a police woman. She would be good as a proper EE resident.

After watching from day one ( almost 20 years, time flies) I finally stopped a couple of weeks ago. Its not the bad storylines believe it or not, I could ride that out, its because I cant stand hardly any of the characters anymore. I have endured the Slaters for 4 years or however long the have been it it. I hate them. I also can not stand Shane Richie and the Moon family, the Millers, Vickie Fowler, Juley, Andy to name a few. Billy Mitchell is ok on his own but when he is paired up with little Mo he turns into a bigger sap than what she is. There are a couple of characters left that I do like but unfortunatly those ones never get any airtime or storylines. Instead I find I am either watching The Slater Show or Moonenders, but not Eastenders. I know,( but I fail to understand why ), these charaters are popular but I am afraid they dont do it for me at all. So I have voted with my remote and now turn over. I would love to watch again if they got rid of those characters but I know that wont happen, not for a long time anyway. Yes I know a couple I have mentioned are going, but for me thats no where near as many as I would like. |

Last nights episode was Kh's first one, and one of the best I have seen this year. Even Andy made me laugh, which I didn't think possible because I despise him so much!!!!
