iPhone 4 & 5 Questions
subversive
09-12-2012
Hi,

I have a iPhone 4 with loads of apps installed on it. how do I transfer these apps to my new iPhone 5?

I done a restore from backup to the iPhone 5 and it installed everything on my iphone 5 from my iphone 4.

However is there way to selectively install apps, rather than do a "restore from backup"?

Also, can I configure two iphones on one laptop via itunes? or do I need to make two separate profiles on the laptop?

Thanks
Matt D

If you want to selectively install previously purchased/downloaded apps, you can go to App Store > Updates > Purchased on the iPhone and just install what you want. Or, you can sync the iPhone 5 with iTunes and choose what apps to install.

I don't think you'd need separate profiles to use two iPhones.

You dont no.

If you dont restore from backup though, i'm not sure whether the app save data will transfer across or not.... It might, but prob wont. It might just be another install.

Ah, that's good. I thought that would be the case, but you never know, given the crapness of iTunes...

It would just be another install. The app data would be kept with the iTunes/iCloud backup - it wouldn't be restored simply by installing the app fresh.

you are correct about itunes being crap, can't believe they can make such a good phone, but when it comes to the software that you use for back ups, etc etc it lacks everything which is expected from "apple"

I will mess around with the two phones and see what happens
