Suitable connections for Sky + HD box

We have a Sky + HD box but we no longer have the HD channels with our subscription, but sky said we could still use the box for normal sky plus. I have the HDMI cable plugged into the box to the TV as I would for HD channels. I have noticed that the picture quality is not that great, certain colours on the screen appear to move around but more noticeable is interference from another channel in the background with words showing, possibly from a shopping channel or news channel maybe on free view which I don't use?
Is this likely to be the TV's fault, as in get a new one, or do I change to scart cable instead of HDMI cable if I no longer use HD channels or should I buy better quality HDMI cables?

could be faulty HDMI cable (but that doesn't mean "better" cable).
Well it is connected by just a HDMi cable, is it worth getting a better quality HDMI cable?
don't get sucked in by "better quality" HDMI cable.
it's digital so it either works or it doesn't.
it could be interference caused by your TV.
does your TV have another HDMI port you can try?
you can try another HDMI cable, but don't think you need to spend more money on a "better" one.
The TV only has one HDMI socket, the TV is about 4/5 years old.
Ok mate thanks will try that.
