Alexandra Burke:
6,7,6,6,2,4,4,1,2,1

Joe McElderry:
3,4,2,3,2,2,1,1,1,1

Matt Cardle:
2,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1

Little Mix:
na,4,6,2,4,3,1,2,1,1

James:
6,6,6,3,6,3,5,1,1,1

We all know Matt Cardle topped the votes every week except the first week, he was a runaway winner.

Little Mix were fairly popular in the voting through out the competition, despite being seen as the favourite to go in early weeks.

On the other hand, James Arthur was never the red hot favourite that people seemed to believe, and was only able to get the "bounce" vote after being in the bottom two. With all the hype and favouritism he's received since his audition, you would think he would be more popular than that.

James Arthur must be the most manipulated winner ever (before you say anything, I recall Alexandra wasn't as bigged up as James in her year)

Actually what's a better indication is % they won the final by. And James was probably one of the biggest % winners there's been, which says a lot.

That depends on who the competition is, I'd say Jahmene was pretty strong competition for James compared to Marcus for Little Mix

Comparing different series doesn't really work. You can only really compare each of the winners with the competition that they faced during each year and not with previous years.

James was significantly ahead of the rest of the competition after he was in the bottom two and there can be no argument that he deserved to win.

Marcus was pretty strong competition for Little Mix, though. Not because he was anywhere close to them talent-wise, but because he's a not-bad looking, young, inoffensive lad with a fairly generic voice and they're a girlgroup.

By looking at it he had a very similar pattern to Alex, both starting off slow and picking up speed towards the end

I believe in the theory that says that voters vote for those they feel are in danger. Little Mix as a girl would be perceived to be in way more danger than a male solo contestant.

Little Mix were only 6% in the second week and 0.2% from the bottom2. James never had as low percentage as that and even when he was in the bottom 2. They both topped the votes twice before the final but James managed 40% in the last two weeks which is much more than Little Mix did. ITs hard to judge that either were less popular in the voting really.

Also Little Mix won the final by just over 5% of the votes, James had a winning margin of 15%.
