I never watched much of the Xfactor this year, thought they were all pretty rubbish, but when I tuned into the final song I was almost laughing at how bad James Arthur was.

Singing? More like shouting down the mic in a terrible tone, no wonder the XFactor is finished!

Well he won with quite a good lead, so there's going to be lots of people that don't agree with you.

I think he's great.

When given a choice between James' groaning and Jahmene's squealing, I guess I'd go for the groaning too. Lesser of two evils as they say.

Actually he's really talented.

Anyone who can turn Abba into modern pop successfully deserves some credit.

He writes his own stuff too and puts his own spin on songs. When he plays with the guitar, he just sounds amazing. He also knows how to use dynamics properly too, the way he starts off all calm and then explodes and gets all passionate at the end is incredible. His songs are INTENSE.

This is all coming from a James fan btw so views are subject to differ obviously.

And therein lies the problem for me. He puts the same "spin" on everything he sings, and I found his performances interchangeable as a result. I've no problem with affectations that come naturally, but his were quite transparently forced. But kudos to him for getting away with 'intensity' whenever a note came up he couldn't even dream of hitting.
