Oh yay Angel Haze! Wouldn't mind her, Chvrches or A*M*E winning.

It feels great that I knew about The Weeknd years before mainstream caught onto them.

This list annoys me every year. I just see it as a list which is basically 'These are all the acts you need to pretend to like next year to appear trendy'

And Haim. They've been about for a while now.
I feel really annoyed I couldn't afford to go and see them the other week - they won't play little venues for much longer.

Haim might win.

Love AlunaGeorge and The Weeknd, having a listen through the list now, also liking the sound of Chvrches, Haim, Tom Odell, and Arlissa. I think A*M*E is the one most likely to make it big though.

A*M*E* is signed to Gary Barlow's label isn't she?

Most of these artists have had a big following for a long time already. The Weeknd especially is incredibly famous already, and had a top 40 hit in the UK a few months ago, and even more int he US (probably why they included him).

I like AlunaGeorge, Angel Haze and The Weeknd. Not personally listened to any of the others.

Quite surprised at the snubs Gabrielle Aplin is getting; not nominated for this or Brits Critic Choice...

agreed with both these comments, all 3 of these should be in the sound of 2013 or at the very least Gabrielle who has had an incredible year from being an unisigned youtube singer to gaining popularity from an advert and now being number 1 with the same song and i know she will continue to do well next year. fingers crossed she will be at least up for best british single at the Brits.

Glad AlunaGeorge are on there as they are good and also Haim are pretty unique so nice to see them on the list.

No Charli XCX?

Aren't you not allowed to be nominated if you had a #1. Maybe Gabrielle would've been on the list if she hadn't just now had such a big chart hit.

She's brilliant, but I think she'll tick along doing her own thing. It's probably better that way.

Didn't even know she was #1! Shows how much I follow the charts

I would say CHVRCHES, Arlyssa, The Weeknd, A*M*E and Little Green Cars for my top5, but I expect they'll shove in some Kiwanuka-esque singer-songwriter stuff too.

The full once over:

If I remember rightly you can't be nominated if you've had a Top 20 single or album; which is why the extremely obvious Emeli Sande and Lana Del Rey weren't nominated last year, despite the fact both were clearly going to have mass success in 2012.

Gabrielle is eligible I think. The rule is that you can't have had a Top 20 hit before the 11th of November.

I'm shocked that Charli XCX isn't on there I would have liked Little Nikki and Florrie too, although I wasnt't really expecting them.

Another vote for Charli XCX & Florrie being robbed (although I said that about Florrie at this point last year) and I'd add Sky Ferreira into the mix too now that it seems like we're finally going to get an album from her.

That list to me is a little bit heavy of people who've been floating around with a lot of buzz for a long time, it almost feels like a list of 2012 rather than 2013, and I'm familiar with almost all of them for the first time (Little Green Cars, Arlyssa & Kodaline were all that I was unamiliar with). but it's a good list either way.

My top 5 would be:
Palma Violets
Haim
Peace
AlunaGeorge
Tom Odell.

I'm quite disappointed at the lack of Bastille and The Neighbourhood (and i also thought Imagine Dragons or The 1975 would get a place)

Palma Violets have had a ton of hype already. Going by the normal pattern of this, they won't win.

Aren't they headlining the NME Awards tour? Good band nonetheless. Also liking Peace!
