Problems on 2xFoxsat HDRs

Hi. I’m new on this forum, arriving as a result of frustration with my Humax boxes and trying to find a cure.

I have 2 Humax Foxsat HDR (UK) boxes. Each has two separate LNB feeds, each from a separate dish. I have updated software on both. Each has a problem:

The first, earlier 320gig box has a problem in that when I rewind live TV and then play it, subtitles come up. This is on both BBC AND ITV.No matter how many times I update the box and software, or how many times in MENU mode I disable subtitles, it will not fix this issue If I try the OK,OK workaround, the playback just jumps to live viewing. VERY frustrating. I’ve read all the fixes suggested- OK OK is not always successful as I mentioned earlier, EXIT, EXIT seems to work. If I buy a newer Foxsat 1000, will I have the same problem? Is there actually a CURE for this problem, which research suggests has been known by Humax since 2009?

The second, newer, 500 gig box, just bought a couple of months ago( in Oct 2012) has a problem in that, if I record BBC1, I cannot view the ITV, Channel 4 or Channel 5 programmes. If I record ITV1, I cannot watch BBC1 on channel 101. !! Reboots (completely unplugging), postcode changing, nothing works. I had only a single LNB and one line in when I set up the box, but now have 2 lines in from a twin LNB – however, in diagnostics the machine registers 2 strong inputs . Interestingly, the subtitles problem seems not to occur on my newer 500gig machine.

Any advice very gratefully received. Thank you.

1) You know that you have to apply the permanent fix on a per channel basis?

2) Try a reset to factory condition to get it to properly recognise it now has two feeds.

Are the two boxes one the same version of the firmware.

And for an improved user experience install Raydon's modified firmware.

The number of cables is only recognised during setup, if you install with only one cable and then add a 2nd you need to do a factory reset or change the connection mode in one of the hidden menus. Your box thinks the tuner 2 signal is derived from tuner 1 out.
