Impossible to me doesnt fit into the Charity Song idea.
Think I would have preferred maybe like a Collaboration of say X Factor winner plus other artists, maybe song ex contestants, and Gary, Nicole and Tulisa join in and maybe realise Do they Know its Christmas, or something new but in the same kind terms wrote by Gary, as he is a brilliant song writer.
At the end of last nights show, They could have had James singing impossible, but Dermot saying Impossible will be bought out in January, by your X Factor winner. I am probably the only one, but the song Impossible, doesn't make me think Charity Song, where as I think Let It be, could have possibly, as its a much better song, with brilliant lyrics. |

It isn't at all like the usual winner's single. Of course people will say that just demonstrates how "cool", "relevant" and "different" James is. As cheesy as they are, I prefer the usual triumphant or uplifting songs with the awful key change and choir! Going back to it being a charity song though, such tracks are usually meant to be uplifting but what we've got is, unless I'm misinterpreting it, depressing and defeatist.

The choice of "Let It Be", with the gospel choir and reassuring lyrics, would suggest so. Christopher Maloney singing "The Reason" would also have been suitable, as would Union J's version of Skyscraper, with its theme of not letting oneself be brought down by other people.

But isn't singing Let It Be a bit uncharitable, too? It's a bit like saying "Deal With Your Poverty, Plebeians."

i think it's asking calmness to acknowledge the present predicament, a requisite for the next step: plan what to do about it... lolz!!

The only reason it's a charity song is to boost sales, let's be honest.

Saying that Do they its Christmas even had a few lines, which makes us realise that we've fir than Ethiopia and the 3rd world have, maybe even a bit smugness.
Let It Be, is more charitable, than Impossible I think by reading some of the other Threads, the X Factor bosses wanted James to win rather than Jahnane, |

Is it because James isn't wearing a suit and singing directly into the camera?

It's not a charity song, it's a song that's raising money for charity. There's a subtle difference.

It's making lots of money for charity, it doesn't matter what the song is.

I just hate the song. So pleased James won but so disappointed with this droning piece of music.
