T-Mobile called me back after about an hour. Gave them the IMEI number from the box and it activated in about 20 mins.

I have gone from 0-1 bars of signal with GPRS to full bars and 3G anywhere in my house.

3G speed test results: Ping 99ms Download 9.02Mbs Upload 4.81Mbs

Call quality excellent.

Unlike the Vodafone box, you do not need to register mobile numbers. They just work. There is no admin access that I can see.

The device is a Nokia Siemens FAPr-hsp 5000

He'll probably Pass out from excitement when reads this

Reading the spec sheet Nokia recommends a home broadband connection of a minimum of 2mb down and 512kb (0.5mb) up.

It was Tech Support. The number I initially called to activate the box as per the instructions in the box.

08009563146

And to confirm this is the tmobile activation line. Not the ordering line.

I called EE business. Answered in 1.25 seconds. They put me through to tech support and registered it for me. Its pretty good bit of kit. I notice that my iphone makes a beep when a call connects through the femto. Not sure if thats iphone specific.

I'm here.
Mine came this afternoon.
Just plugged it in but no info on registering it!
I'll ring them in a mo when I've got the kids to bed!
Noticed it an 8 user device not 4 as advertised on the website.
This would be why Nokia recommend 2Meg.
Mines normally 1.6 which should be fine since there's only 2 handsets in the house.
Sight problem though. After a line fault my ADSL is 283Kbps. Great!!
The Dynamic Line Management hasn't brought the speed back up yet so I'm stuffed.
But when it is working, I'll probably have a coronary, yes.
DevonBloke
13-12-2012
It says the device is HSPA but doesn't mention a "+".
Once Paulker get to test it on something faster than 20Meg we'll know.
Also I see they only recommend 2Meg download so there's a decent handset data connection. For most the data connection won't be used, only voice/sms.
I note they recommend 512 upload meaning that 512 must be enough for 8 Simeltanious calls.
Therefore my measly 283Kbps should be enough for at least 1 call which is all I need 90% of the time.

BUGGER!! EE business gone home.
Aaarrrggghhhhh!!

paulker

Well, I have done a speediest with wifi off and the speeds are rubbish. Less than 2 up and down. Switch wifi back on and way hay.
