Sony Xperia Tipo VS Sony Xperia Miro?
More help required!
After ruling out the Sony Xperia U after getting some replies about 4GB being pretty much terrible, I have had a look at the two phones mentioned in the title. Does anyone have any experience with either of these phones? Or any knowledge on if one is very much better than the other or not? I don't know how I ended up mostly looking at Sony phones. That isn't typical for me but they just seem to have some of the best deals at the moment. Again, any help would be appreciated. (ps. in regards to the Xperia Tipo, the colour I am looking at is red, could anyone tell me if this a proper red colour and not one that almost looks pink?) |

Hmmm, well compared to the U they are not as good by a long way. The miro is ever so slightly better than the tipo but not by much. Tbh I would not even consider these phones, especially if you're looking around £100 mark. The Huawei Ascend G300 is a better phone than these and £100.
The Galaxy Ace 2 is a competitor to the U and is £150ish at P4U. Even cheaper on upgrade |

I was trying to find something a bit cheaper per month than the S3 though as it isn't for my own use but rather as a gift for Christmas. |

If you don't mind could you answer the following questions and i'll try and help you best i can.
Contract or Pay as you go? Network preference? mins/texts/data prefernce Price per month/price of handset preference. Any brands you favour/hate? The reason i said the U is much better is because it is a dual core phone, better screen and res etc.. Yes the downside is the limited memory of 4GB but it has many other advantages that makes the Xperia U a better buy. Especially when the Miro is overpriced. |

Contract or Pay as you go? Network preference? mins/texts/data prefernce Price per month/price of handset preference. Any brands you favour/hate? Contract or Pay as you go? - Contract Network preference? - 02 or Orange mins/texts/data preference - Minimum 250 mins/ unlimited texts/ 500mb data Price per month - Anything between £10-25 per month Any brands you favour/hate - tend to favour samsung (but not the galaxy ace), HTC. Nokia & Sony are fine too. Touch screen is a must. Mostly will be used for texting, photos & videos, some internet usage - i.e. google, youtube, social networking, poss emails. |

The U was the phone I initially looked at but the memory put me off, as you cannot add to it. However, based on the answers I provide above, do you think it would be enough for what it will be used for? ps. thank you for your time, I know this might be a bit tedious. I really do appreciate the help. |

Ok, let's start off at the top.
For £26pm you can get Unlimited Texts and Calls and 1GB of Data on O2 with a free Sony Xperia S. You can also get a One X or Galaxy S3 with 200 mins/unl texts & 750mb data for £26pm with a free phone. These deals are via phones 4 u. If you want to go via a third party like mobiles.co.uk you can get the S3 and One X on the same plan as the Xperia S for £26pm but you have to pay about £50 upfront. For £21.50pm you can get the Samsung Galaxy S2 or Xperia S (s is better) with 200mins/250 O2-O2- mins/unl texts/500mb data. Again these deals are via Phones 4 u. Plus Phones 4 U are offering a potential £100 cashback There are not many midrange phones in the £10-£20 range with 250 minutes +. The Xperia U is the only one that is there at £12.50 for £12.50 for 250mins/5000texts/500mb data via talk mobile who use vodafone. Cheapest deal for the U by far. You can get the Galaxy Ace2 which is better than the U slightly for around £17.50 on a better deal with Talk Mobile. (350 mins/ 5000 texts/ 1GB Data) Advantages are faster phone and abiliy to add a micro sd card. Downside is that you have to pay £5 per month extra for a fairly similar phone, but then again you can expand the memory and you do get more minutes and internet allowance so this is a good buy as well. (Talk Mobile use Vodafone) I think if you can afford £20+ and 200 mins + 250 O2-O2 mins is enough then go for the Xperia S which is miles better than the U. If you don't want to pay that much then the Ace 2 (which is better than the original Ace and the Xperia U) or the Xperia U for £12.50-£17.50 are good buys. If you don't plan on having much multimedia content on the U then the 4GB should be just about adequete. But remember you'll be getting it on a 24month contract and thats a long time to not have expendable storage. Especially when it's full with apps/phone data and the odd other thing. So in my opinion, like above Ace 2 for £17.50 with 350mins/1GB data, or Xperia S for £20.50 with 200 mins/250 o2-o2 mins/500mb data. FYI the Ace 2 is pretty much the Galaxy S3 Mini. It's a much better phone than the original Ace which was terrible. Sorry for my english and lack of links, i'm on my phone right now. Edit: 1000th post! Wooo! aha

Out of interest, what is it about the Xperia Miro that you dislike? I only ask because I've found a great deal of £15 pm for 500mins/unlimited text/ 500 mb. However, if there is something that is really not good about the phone, then I am more inclined to go for the Samsung Galaxy S2 for £20pm or the Xperia S for £21.50pm. |

If you compare the Miro to the Xperia U, or Galaxy Ace 2 you see that it just is not worth paying more or the same for the miro over the U or Ace 2.
1- The screen is smaller and much lower res. This will make it pixillated and not easy to see everything. 2- The processor is single core and nowhere near as powerful as the Xperia U or Ace 2. You will notice it being slow under load. 3- The camera although being 5mp is not as good as the one in the U or Ace 2, cannot shoot in 720p. Just standard def. 4- Even though the Miro has micro SD card support, it does not warrant a £2.50 increase per month over the xperia U as the U still beats it. I think have a look at the Xperia S on a youtube review. It is miles better than the U or Ace 2 and better than the Samsung Galaxy S2. If you like it then i say that is the best one. If you think 200 mins is too little or that £21 is too much then look at Xperia U or Galaxy Ace 2 on Talk Mobile. Like i said the Xperia U deciding factor is memory. and trust me the Galaxy Ace 2 is a good phone also. It is much better than the original Ace which is not a good phone now. It is similar to the Galaxy S3 Mini and has a micro SD Card slot but it is reasonably priced at £17.50pm. Look at youtube reviews for these two phones as well. Here is the link for Xperia S deal- http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_...#offer_details Ace 2- http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/buy...E_2_KM030_FCON Xperia U- http://www.carphonewarehouse.com/buy...A_U_TS12P_FCON Also Galaxy S2 is a good deal with £100 cashback but it's not always guaranteed from P4U + Xperia S is a better phone. http://www.phones4u.co.uk/shop/shop_...#offer_details If the £100 cashback pays out it would effectively be £17.35pm (From £21.50pm) As a final say the Xperia S is the best phone (and at £21.50 is great). The S2 is not as good as the S but better than the Ace 2 and Xperia U by far and so with £100 cashback is a very good deal to go for. Oh and don't worry about my time, i'm researching for a cousins christmas present as well. My aunt says i know more about this kind of stuff than herself so has entrusted me in finding a good deal haha, |

Plus, for a little over £20 a month, that's pretty decent. Your aunt is very wise, you're knowledge and deal finding skills have helped me greatly. Good luck with your search

No worries at all. Im thinking of recommending the same deal but need to ask my cousin if she prefers this or the Galaxy S3. (I think I already know the answer tbh and its called £5 extra per month
, or in other words the s3.)
