Assuming you have Christmas dinner of course

What time of the day do you sit down to eat? We normally sit down between 1.30-2.30pm. I don't know how people can have their Xmas dinner in the evening, it would lay far too heavy on me, so we like to eat in the afternoon.

This year we're having it at 12pm my sister starts work on the maternity ward at 1.30pm so we want to make sure she can at least join us for lunch if not the afternoon.

I couldnt eat a big meal at lunchtime, we are staggering ours have the starter at lunchtime and dinner 4ish .. pudding well whenever the kids want it

About one half one sort of time we at OH grand mothers this year. But some how im the one cooking so i want it out of the way asap

My in laws go to the Holiday Inn at 6pm for their meal, no way could I be arsed with that Despite the fact that they've said the food has gotten terrible the last few times they've been. Well why go then?!

I hate the token visit to theirs on the day, they are so boring and have sky news on all day on christmas day!

Midday, this year - our family situation basically means it's me, the wife and my sister, so bollocks to cooking we're going to a decent restaurant (and 12 was the only sitting they could squeeze us in to)

When it's ready, sometime in the afternoon though

It depends. It is usually about 3pm.

I have never cooked Christmas dinner and always have it at my Mums. I think we normally aim for about 3pm ish. I don't think its an exact science though. Its ready when its ready.

Probably about 2pm - depends when we get back from church, long sermon and it could be later.

It always starts around 1pm then goes on until about 4 - but that is due to yacking rather than stuffing.
Then absolutely nothing until about 8 when everybody makes their own sandwiches from stuffing, cold gammon, sausages and crispy bacon all left over from the lunch, salad and "pickings" like olives etc.

I usually have it in my head to aim for about 2pm. For various reasons it usually ends up coming out at about 4pm!

On the other 364 days of the year we have our main meal at 6.30/7pm and so see no reason to change it for the one day. Gives me plenty of time to get everything just right.

Between 1pm and 4pm. Depending on how long it takes to cook.

Aiming for 3pm but it's not set in stone. I enjoy cooking it and I like spending time with the family so I like to be relaxed about it.

About 1pm at my house, at my in-laws between 3-4pm

It's always just the 2 of us at Christmas, so we can do what we like and we'll eat it when it's ready. Over the years it's been ready by mid afternoon, early evening and one year, about 10pm!

Bacon sarnies at 9ish, xmas din dins at 2ish and tea at 7ish. Drinkies, nibbles and chocolates all day!!

No formality, so when it's ready. Usually around 1800hrs...

When I was growing up, it was always 12.30, with everything done and eaten in time for the Queen's Speech

Nowadays for me, it's usually about 3.00 (my mother would be horrified ) with cold cuts and pickles to snack on through the evening.
