Do people hate Chris bc they felt duped by him?
I feel the reason I can't let go of my dislike for Chris is bc he fooled me. I was watching back James' audition package last night and bawled my eyes out, which I hadn't originally done when I watched it the first time. Then I realized how pissed off I was that I cried during Chris' audition. I really thought that guy was a shut in who lived w/ his nan and had never pursued anything w/ his music. And then of course the whole nerves thing. I was really touched. I know there are some out there that do believe Chris is genuine, but I am firmly in the camp that don't think so and it made me wonder if that's why the hatred for him is so great. For those who dislike Chris as well, was the fact that you felt duped part of the reason he strikes such a nerve for you?

A brave poet once said "People hate that which they lack the mental faculties to comprehend."

Hate is a strong word, but I think you're correct that the way he might have misled people won't have helped him. For what it's worth (and no, I've never met him so this is just what I think), I do feel that he spun a bit of yarn. The difficulty is that the majority of contestants these days seem to have been involved in the industry in some way and/or have been groomed at stage school, so there's very little raw talent. The question we have to ask, therefore, is whether he'd have got the wildcard if he'd been up front - and I think the answer to that is no.

I actually wanted Chris to get the wildcard as I thought he was a guy who'd never had a break and it was probably his last chance... Tbf I don't hate him for it though, I just found him a bit bland and fake on the show and the one time he did try a modern song last weekend he ruined a favourite for me. |

And yes, the absolutely shakes and breakdowns were difficult and uncomfortable and then the minute he got through, they vanished. When Rylan had a breakdown, it was so over the top, it was endearing. When Chris did it, it seemed... false. And lastly, I just didn't like him as a person. He seemed very arrogant and rude. I appreciate he's had a hard time from the media and public, but I just couldn't take to him. His constant "I'm the public's choice" and all this just grated on me. He did top the votes for 7 weeks and rightly so, he was the "people's choice", but his constant mentioning of it, the public and all that, was just a turn off. The public like humility in their contestants... Chris lacked this. |

I strongly disliked him from his very first audition...his fakeness was very obvious to me, but he's played an absolute blinder with the public...that's quite an achievement
![]() I'm glad he's generated a voting frenzy with those who wanted to "kill" the show by lining Simon's pockets...only to have the orange one kicked out of the tour ![]()

I've lost count of the number of people I've spoken to that have said 'There's just something about him I don't like.'
I don't feel this way. I don't like anything about him.
