Yes I have heard her a few times on 5live standing in for Nolan and my god was she good, well lets face it anyone is better than Nolan. Heard her on Radio 2 as well.Excellent presenter.

Time for a radical change of the old guard at 5live but will it happen ?.........................................................no chance !
Glad to hear you like Frances. She can't be older than mid thirties , so hopefully she will have a good career at national broadcasting level to look forward to.

There was a good sounding phone in on 5 this morning about PE in schools , but totally ruined by being unable to hear Brian Moore and some of the callers. If they are going to get a guest to appear , please make sure he doesn't sound like he's on a mobile from outer space.I had to give up after 10 minutes .

Looks like someone at 5live has has had the courage to tell VD to get her Salford attendance averages up.Thats twice this week.Must be taking something for that travel sickness.I wonder if all this strain means. that she will be off tomorrow ?

I know its not a popular competition and ofcourse 5live do have a lot of football coverage so it might be a chance to give other sports some airtime but why don't they have any commentaries on the Europa league games?

A lot of those presenters left the station and will not be returning however much you would like them to...and I don't think a new controller would change every single daytime programme all at once.
Its a suggested wish list that's all!! I didn't expect wholesale change its some food for thought

While u mention some have left but still work for BBC so there wouldn't be any problem if wanted to return - worricker on world service; Frances Finn is BBC Nottingham - elms or lederman BBC london BBC

thanks radio4 glad you like suggestions
As it goes Baker don't like personally but in my self appointed role as fantasy controller I was just dealing with the weekday schedule
Mayo? Oh left him in place on a Friday

The travel can sound "bitty" for any programme where the presenter is not in the same place as the travel journalist. There are plenty of examples of this in local radio. If that's the case on Five Live I would suggest that it's a matter of style rather than the whole quality suffering.

It's been in the press a lot? Yep - the likes of the Mail love a good witch hunt.
I think what the posters were saying is it is affecting the output......

the press....
Well its not just been in the mail though quite why its so so bad to have conservative views expressed as well as left wing ones I don't know..its a free (sort of) country...

But the guardian have featured just as many negative stories about the BBC move and they love a follower of paganist rituals hunt

I wasn't aware that Frances Finn was on 5Live, I've only heard her on Radio Nottingham . How is she doing on 5 ? certainly an excellent broadcaster. A few years ago she recovered from the most horrendous motor cycle accident .
she has & bless her like a true biker she is back riding her fireblade again!
She's very very good & definitely deserves national job

I think they have designated Thursday as their non football night - but its silly really as they are playing a boring doc on a racehorse which is aimed more at winning Sony awards than serving of much interest to sports fans.

The run in to the news at both 6.00 and 7.00 this morning has featured pop music being played extremely loudly. This seems to be a growing trend recently, and I find it very annoying. My alarm is set just before 6.00, so it is extremely unsettling to be woken by that row.

If I wanted to listen to pop music at that time I would have tuned my radio to another station. What is the point, and why do they do it?

Long weekend for most of them at 5live inc. Vic.

Last time I heard there were going on strike on monday !

Derbyshire ( on 250,000 a year ) will no doubt be manning the NUJ picket line and no travelling to Salford as well. She appears to be always in a win, win situation.

Just listened back to this morning's 0700 intro. There was a full rundown of the headlines and 10 second burst of Aeromsith's "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" illustrating this evening's asteroid sighting. No louder than then news jingle. Hardly an - ahem - Armageddon scenario really

So now you know her salary, the terms of her contract regarding taking a day's leave and the status of her union membership.

Quite remarkable*

Watching on the webcams just now during Mayo and Kermode's Film show, it looked like they were in a new studio (I know they do their show from London not Salford btw) - could possibly have been in NBH, but definetly didn't look like the studio they used to use, so have they now moved out of their London studios at TVC?

Yes. I think all radio operations have now moved out of TVC to New Broadcasting House. Network TV news is still there, though BBC World News has moved.

Apologies, I thought it was a schedule you thought a new controller may bring in.

Network news and the News Channel move to NBH during March.

Danny Bakers Saturday show also comes from this studio in Broadcasting House as well.

Savage on the Friday evening show now! Is it in his contract that he has to appear on every single programme?

Not right.

Danny Baker's Saturday 5 Live show comes from another studio at NBH from the one Mayo/Kermode use.

Albeit, they are exactly the same, but are a mirror image of each other.

Perhaps we should start a running commentary on how often you tune in at 1000 to check on the progress of a presenter you apparently dislike?
