They all seem to get on so well together, better than any other year I can remember. It's all been quite touching to see. They are going to have a ball on tour together.

James saying there are two winners this year. Jahmene saying it was a blessing sharing the stage with James, Rylan and Lucy (Rylan and EVERYONE), all of them trying to get Kye included on the tour, Ella and Union J ... etc.

They all got on, bar Chris. But for strongest bonds I will go with the Top 4 of 2008... Diana, JLS, Alex and Eoghan. That semi final was horrible. How they were all in tears when Diana left.

For sure. Apart from Chris of course. This is why I loved this season so much. All of them seem like good people and they really treated each other like family and rooted for one another. It was very nice to see. All very genuine.

It's always nice when they're all friends, isn't it? I thought last year's lot were really friendly as well and quite a few of them are still in touch with each other.

Last year's lot seem to be very close as well. As far as I know Little Mix still hang out with Amelia, Marcus, Misha, The Risk and Craig.

I think series 2 was an even sweeter group. Back then we had a fly-on-the-wall reality documentary instead of Xtra Factor, showing them all sharing a house, sat in their living room or jamming, and going places each day; everything from ice skating to rehearsals. They used to film the goodbyes the morning after an elimination with the remaining contestants all tearfully crowding around the eliminee's car as it left the drive.

This Big Brother approach gave viewers a better insight into what contestants were really like off stage, and where the strongest bonds were. Nowadays we largely rely on hearsay in newspapers and all the XF manipulation that can involve.

Since they abandoned that and put people into hotel rooms the contestants seem to be less warm to one another, and fracture off into age and mentor segregation a lot more than they did.

I wonder if the hotel thing helped... and Rylan one of the more popular contestants was kicked out so he wasn't even staying there.

I'm guessing normally when they throw 12+ strangers of varied ages into one shared house conflicts come easy because they will spend a lot of time on top of each other. Even though they were sharing a room a hotel affords them more privacy and there is room service and maid service so probably less fighting about household chores.

I believe Rylan was back at the main hotel with everyone after a week. I think he was sharing a room with James.

In the earlier days of the show I think having them all under one roof and in a shared communal space such as a cosy living room made them get on better, or at least make some attempt to do so. They also tended to be on their best behaviour, so that tensions wouldn't be filmed when the camera crew came round to film them all in the house.

Nowadays its noticeable that, for the most part, the friendships remain within mentoring groups and those they've been sharing rooms with in a hotel. This segregation also increases the typical distance there'll be between older and younger contestants, so that, for example, Christopher would have become an outcast from the younger ones regardless of his behaviour because they won't have had the same level of contact.

That VT when Rylan and James were sharing a bed and Rylan's "What if I get pregnant?"

Horrible? I thought it was hilarious personally Eoghan seemed genuinely upset, bless him, but Alex just seemed to be crying because everyone else was crying. I don't mean in a fake way, I mean in a "she got swept up by the emotion" kind of way I remember her blubbering something about being convinced Diana was going to win on Xtra Factor after...

I'd agree with it being 2008, but the final five not the final four. Ruth and Alex's relationship was amazing. :')
