Scandal Season 2 (US Pace)
Starting a thread for the much under-rated show Scandal, now in its second season in the US.
S1 was only a 7-parter but it has returned with a full 22-episode run. I hadn't even heard of this show until a few weeks ago but then watched all of S1 and got up to date with S2 in no time at all. The cliffhangers are so good that you just have to dive straight into the next episode. |

I started watching S1 on more 4 and I was so hooked that after the finale, I watched all episodes in one night.
I'm a bit worried that it's been given a full 22 episode run. I guess I'm just worried that they've already had a major cliff hanger in episode 7 and 8 with 14 episodes to go. How can they possibly top this? |

What I like about Scandal is that everyone has their dark secrets and you never know what anyone's motivations are. |

Thank you Lost Fool for starting this thread. I love Scandal, but as you can probably guess from my post total, I'm not so great at posting.
It's not in the title, but can we agree to put anything that would be a spoiler for the US audience behind spoiler tags? Scandal airs Thursday nights at 10pm est time in the US. I believe that's the same time as on Canada's CityTv. I mention that for people who know why I would mention that. I wasn't that thrilled with the who is Quinn season one cliffhanger. I just don't like Quinn. I think the actress is just so-so and the character for the first season was just the standard character who is supposed to represent the audience and introduce us to the Pope world. As it turns out, so far through the first 8 episodes of season 2, I still don't care about Quinn. It seems as if she was just a bystander in her big story. I like Abby and David together. I can't believe David hasn't linked Liv to his breakup. He started out thinking she controlled the world, so why not even a hint so far that she had something to do with his old girlfriend coming up with that abuse lie. I like Stephen but I don't miss him. He doesn't really fit. The actor and character would be clamoring for a bigger role that I don't think either warrants. Harrison is taking on more responsibility but he still has Olivia up on a pedestal. I think he's going to be really confused if and when he ever finds out about Fitz. Huck surprisingly has a lot of fans. I don't get it. I guess I'll have to save the White House gang for another post. |

That was really good. I knew there was no way Huck was responsible for the shooting but I didn't expect Becky to frame him twice.
I also can't believe that Verna turned on Olivia like that but it now makes sense that Olivia didn't confide in her about Fitz. Cyrus is a manipulative bastard but James seems to know what he's married to. I don't know how Olivia can go back to working at the White House now that Huck has been arrested especially as she was there when he was caught. |

This show is just awesome...always has me on the edge of my seat. I'm such a scandal addict. They need to make this show longer.
Glad it wasn't Huck but can't believe Huck didn't think he might be bugged. Damn everyone is turning on one another. Becky. ![]() Glad we still have 13 episodes left. |

Excellent episode. I do like how the secret gang is now start to stab each other in the back.
My only problem was that it did stretch credibility a little too much to have Olivia meet Huck (the most wanted man in the world) right outside of the White House and have a conversation within earshot of armed guards. Good that there wasn't much Quinn in this one. Neither the character nor the actress does much for me. I much prefer Abby myself and I always like Joshua Malina whatever he is in. |

I can't see how she would know about it. I think it was really just to reconnect with David. She's still not sure about him and doesn't really know what to do about it. One thing says he is a bad guy, but everything else says that he is a good guy.

Wow, just watched the whole of Season 2 up to now in 2 days.
A little far fetched but great TV. Can't wait for it to start up again. What a cliffhanger for mid season. Almost as good as Walking Deads

Just a reminder, in the U.S., the second half of season 2 of Scandal begins Thursday night at 10pm EST.
I've avoided spoilers so I have no idea what is going to happen beyond what they showed on "next time on" after the last episode. If they want to make me happy, they'll have Fitz make one of those superfast miracle recoveries. |

Absolutely brilliant episode. Even though so much happened in the episode, it still felt a little bit slower compared to the past 2/3 episodes.
I praactically squealed when I heard "Hi". |

Fantastic episode. It may have gone beyond the believable but it's still terrific TV.
The weakest link in the show remains Quinn. There doesn't seem to be any point in her being there and the character isn't interesting at all. |

I agree about Quinn. Just replace her. I don't think she's a particularly good actress and we could shake up the dynamics among the associates with new blood.
That episode definitely went "beyond believable." I hope they rein in the number of liberties they take as they move along. I wonder how much of this is that Shonda created this storyline with the idea that there were only 13 episodes so she had to hurry things along. I don't know how much was already finished before she got the extra 9. |

Agree also re: Quinn. Do not really care about her story to be honest now, way too much more happening. Anyone else think Hollis is fantastic - his one liners in that drawl are just LOL

I really enjoyed that episode. I just knew what the title was in reference to.
I didn't think the elevator scene was entirely necessary but my heart broke for Fitz in the tree stump scene. |

A fairly low key episode by Scandal standard but there was still loads going on and the story is building nicely. It's just a shame that the episodes are so spread out at the moment.
Best bit: no Quinn at all

I guess by the time they got around to the elevator scene that I was wondering why Fitz surrounds himself with clowns. He made it clear that he couldn't deal with his father. So they bring his father into the campaign and left Fitz completely up to his own devices, even though he hasn't been able to deal with the man for almost half a century. The least they could have done was maybe cut off his alcohol. Jerry helped with the poll numbers but there didn't seem to be any reason for those two to be in the same room at the same time.
Mellie is either bipolar or on drugs. I don't buy the sweetness and light routine at all. It actually kind of annoys me how they are trying to change her and the Grant marriage. My spoiler-free guess about that ridiculous Edison proposal is that Olivia would say yes just so that he wouldn't follow up on trying to find out about the Fitz affair. Of course, the thing that makes the most sense is for Fitz not to run for a second term. |
