I was watching the advert for "Now thats what I call Christmas" or whatever it's called.. and it's amazing really how old the songs are now. There doesn't seem to be any recent classic Christmas songs. I wonder if it's because Christmas is losing it's value somewhat and no one can be bothered singing about it like they used to back in the days of Slade and Wizard?

Fair point. The thing is that I bet songs like Step into Christmas still make a lot of money even today so it can't be the record companies who don't want to do it I wouldn't think

I dont get why artist nowadays dont release christmas singles. If they are popular and have a decent christmas song it will become classic and its money year after year for them even when they are not so popular. Look at Mariah careys all i want for christmas, every year its back in the charts and on compilation cds earning her money.

I only knew of The Killers releasing something Christmassy this year.

I guess the last good new Christmas song (if that makes sense) would be Mariah Carey.

They don't produce Christmas songs like they used to. They have been swallowed up by the regular X Factor releases every year. Consequently, the popular Christmas hits of the past get re-released into the charts. Well, that it my opinion anyway. It just seems the culture of Christmas and music has altered since the 90's.
