Very dull so far, cancelling each other out. Hope it improves in the second half. Would like to avoid extra time

A very cagey game so far, both sides showing the opposition a lot of respect.
Hazard seems to be on top of his game, he's been our most dangerous player. I like the way Luiz is getting foward at every opportunity, still don't see why they can't give a run as a DM.
Looking at the two benches, it does show our weakness in depth, even without Rooney. I suppose Lampard for Oscar or Ramires might be an idea, but there's not much else we can do to change things.

Forget all that..We've scored ! Great goal Demba.

LFC fan here I come in peace, cracking goal from Ba, he should take a bow for that.

What a save ! That must rate among the best I've ever seen.

Mikel is one of biggest waste of 80k a week, out of players who play regularly for a top club.
Makes no tackles, doesnt break up play, cant distribute and obviously doesnt score goals....
Shame is that years ago, i think he had the raw materials to be a top attacking midfielder...

Mikel is unfathomable - really a lump in midfield and should be got rid of asap.

Good result but bad loss with Cole's hamstring, I'm suprised we haven't had more injuries with our schedule though

I thought he had a decent game today. Problem is, he's just about the only genuine holding player we've got. We've groomed him to be another Makelele, but those are big boots to fill, that guy was one of the best the world has seen.

Good result, and I thought with better finishing we would have scored a few more. Looked pretty comfortable most of the game and man Utd really diddnt turn up. Our mad season continues... Yet another game now! Man city won't be easy

I have only ever seen Chelsea on TV. Actually saw an FA Cup semi (free tickets at work).

Do Chelsea value the FA Cup more than many clubs? Is it due to 1997 which some see as a turning point from average to bigger club? It was that win which took us to the Cup Winners cup.

Or we just got players who know how to play in the Cup?

I think you take the best attitude and somewhat old fashioned stance of the big clubs in that its better to win things rather than just finish top 4 for the virtual trophy

Fair enough re filling Makelele's boots... I'm glad people didnt (well havent yet) jumped on my back for that criticism of him... it's just that it really seems like you could put anyone in and they would not perform any worse or make less contribution than Mikkel... It seems a waste of a career!

Neither team played particularly well, Mata looked well below par - the rest of the season we pretty much have to throw on as strong a team as possible for every game, the Southampton result shows that we don't have the depth to grind out results in the league like Man U can.

It's gonna be entertaining though that's for sure!

Really wasn't too bothered winning today but stopping United winning the double is sweet especially as they are all saying how they are now so not bothered about the FA Cup.

David Luiz looks a complete natural in the holding role, we need to bring in another class defender or two to account for (what sadly looks like) a fading JT and allow Luiz to move permanently into that position.

They were bothered all right - only Giggs, Fletcher and Scholes have an FA Cup winners medal!

Of course they were. They are getting a wee bit bitter about it.
Good to see Rio lose his man for the goal as well

To be fair it was one of those kinds of finishes it's very hard to blame on defenders - 9 times out of ten that's not going in and everyone forgets about it.

Well it is a very specialised position. A couple of years ago it did look as if Mikel was going to be the answer for us, his form has dipped since then, and he's been inconsistent.
The two pivotal positions in a 4-2-3-1 are very important, that's why we've struggled so much. We may have to look elsewhere in the summer, but right now Mikel is as good as anyone we've got in a holding role..in my opinion.

And the way he has played recently you would of expected it to go flying in the stand.

Congrats on the win, I hope that you beat City in the semi now.
