Nice save by Cech there.

Good goal by Torres, and looking good to continue progression in the Europa League.

Game over now, you would have to say.

Doing our best to lose it.

They must give a lot of pens in the Turkish league then. Crikey.

Through to the semi finals. Have a good chance of winning this tournament.

Really great result that - managed to fully rest Hazard and Mata and Oscar only had to play 13 minutes - gives us a great chance against City.

Only saw snippets of the game but glad we got the job done and managed to rest important players for sunday.

If we do City the FA Cup's in the bag - really important game, I would have said we were favs for the Europa league but Basle bloody caned the s**t out of Spurs making them a very strong contender so it may not be as straightforward as we thought....

Hulk would be absolutely class in the PL, perfectly designed for this league.

Basle, Benfica or Fenerbahce it is then....

Not sure who we should be hoping for there.....

I think Fernerbahche would be the easiest option, the other two look much more tricky, another long trip to turkey though.

Im just worried our players will hit a wall at some point and basically collapse due to fatigue, i.e go on a losing streak at the worst possible time... bow out of the europa league, fa cup and end up 5th-6th. Disastrous season. It was good that a lot of first team players were rested today, and fringe players given a run out. Still think the loss on the night highlights that our squad isnt good enough in the long term to keep rotating, hopefully we can sort that out in the Summer(and we should quite easily if we recall KDB, Lukaku etc, and buy another midfielder/striker).

Or it could go the other way, and we somehow win the FA cup/Europa League and get 4th. Benitez would surely have to be praised if he can pull that off. Our season is weirdly turning out similar to last season.. still in 2 cups and battling for fourth, can we pull off another double?

We're losing games regularly enough as it is. For that reason alone I'm not worried abut a losing streak, just the usual inconsistency that we've seen over the last 2 seasons. Just a shame that Spuds have a break now. Without Lennon and Bale they are screwed. Defoe is off form and Adebayor is horrific when he doesn't have a contract to earn.

I'm no longer confident of a victory on Sunday. I know we usually step it up for the cup games, but they have too many players who step it up against us. Tevez always scores and even Nasri puts on a show. Not feeling good at all.....

For what it's worth, I think that you'll beat City, at the weekend. They were nothing special, against us. United were just beyond lacklustre.

I'll qualify this by stating that I hope that you get beat by Wigan/Millwall, in the final, though!

For all those fans gloating that we were an embarrassment for and early CL exit, where are they now when we are the last UK team still in Europe (again)?

And a wonder goal from Torres too!

No, he will cost far too much. If we are going to go big money again, just get the very best like Falcao or Cavani.

Otherwise, dont bother.

Basel away leg first is an ideal draw.

To flip it, where are all those Chelsea fans who were mocking & protesting against Rafa & dismissing Torres?

He could actually end up getting you 2 cups and top 4.
